The Power Rangers Phenomenon: A Letter To Critics

29 09 2008

Now, I know many of you out there are going to be young adults( between the ages of 18 and 30 who have probably long forgotten that years ago in a decade called The 90s every kid in the neighborhood didn’t want a Pokemon or anything else you might see kids craving these days. They wanted a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.

A little show about five teenagers who could have come straight from Bayside(only people from the previously mentioned age group will remember what show the term “Bayside” originates) that in times when the world needed them would risk their lives against the forces of Rita Repulsa.
About a year goes by and some of these ‘Power Rangers’ take their leave to other callings as newbies are called in. The newest villain Lord Zedd finds the one good thing inside him is the true love for his former underling Rita Repulsa, who by the end of the final season is his dearly devoted (and pain in the neck) wife.
And that’s about it…isn’t it?

Theres got to be more…
Ah, but there is more, oh so much more.
This is the one television series I’ve followed pratically without end since it started.
It has outlasted the X-Files, Xena, Hercules,Stargate, Babylon 5, Earth Final Conflict… wait, wait, you mean you think I just watch this show for the color coordinated suits? You think I and others like me would watch this show if it had no science fiction or dramatic appeal? Please, give us Ranger fans more respect than that. The power suits have a great uniformed draw to them of course, but so do the various robots in Transformers. That is to say that there are thousands of robotic themed TV shows but only one with the heart, erm, Spark that gets my TV time the most.

It’s that Spark, or heart that drives the die hard Ranger fan to this show. But when all you see is a cheap 20 minute piece of trash production you’re not looking with your heart. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s been a while since we did this and to boot… it looks like you’ll be ducking Assault Rifle blasts from some of the Riders from the upcoming Kamen Rider Dragon Knight show! We’re in this thread here deciding on a day, so drop in to see what works best for you. As far as I can see, it looks like it’ll be sometime mid to next week. Bungie Teaser: HALO 3 DLC Expansion: “Prepare to Drop”

25 09 2008

Online Videos by Veoh.com

Bungie.net just finished their countdown and with it, was the release of the above trailer. As with most countdowns (except for Countdown to Destruction cuz that was DOPE AS HELL!) the end result was kinda disappointing. Looks like some kinda side story and if sources are to be believed, it’ll be some kinda squad based shooter and a side-story to HALO 3. I hope, beg and plead that it takes place after events in HALO 3, otherwise I might skip this one. I fracking hate prequels and side stories that don’t further a story, but instead just leave things running in place or backwards.

Also, got another HJU HALO Night in the works. Stay tuned and we’ll get a date together to jam. I might be able to coax a Dragon Knight Rider into the mix too, now that I think of it.

See you on the battlfield!

2009’s Kamen Rider is………. DECADE!

23 09 2008

null

While it looks like I deleted it, back in the day I said Kamen Rider Den-O was going to be Kamen Rider Tau. And then we seemed to have the same kinda evidence. Decade sounds kinda awkward and there’s speculation that we may get a season of Forever Red, Japanese Kamen Rider style, but I’m willing to place my bet on a name change by launch and that it’s just another show that does nothing to pay any fan service to… the fans.

Kamen Rider Kabuto is the closest you’re going to get for that.

Kamen Rider Saga… IS HERE! Henshin & Finisher!

22 09 2008

Taiga Transform! The King of the Fangire has taken the stage and shown the world his henshin. To boot, we also get a glimpes at his finisher which….. is kinda stupid looking. Yeah, I said it. Kamen Rider Kiva is up there with the best of the Modern Era Riders but that finisher was so… random. Stab… fly up through the air.. into a portal… come out the otherside… haul the monster up and watch him ’splode? O_o

Just… weird.

Love the suit tho! :D Belt is quite classic in its shape and form. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out and if in the end we’ll see Wataru and Nago-san take down Taiga.

Steve Wang Presents: Power Rangers Lost Galaxy - “The Rescue Mission”

20 09 2008

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy: The Rescue Mission

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight is coming… and here’s a glimpse of the action and tone we have to look forward to once the series hits early next year. Steve Wang has Power Ranger cred, and he has it on both one of the show’s greatest Ranger Seasons of all time and one of my absolute favorite episodes: “The Rescue Mission.”

Loaded to the gills with action, blasters, monsters and to my surprise… death. I remember Steve saying how much he loved this episode and that he had to scale back some, but got away with a lot of what he wanted. Drop into the forums to let us know what you thought about it and how this might give us an idea for what we’re in store for once Dragon Knight hits.

Project BM! S.H.S. x Kubrick - Masked Rider : Review

19 09 2008

Hey it’s Adrienzo again; today I am reviewing Project BM! SHS x Kubrick Maked Rider.

And once again for more toy reviews and just toku-related stuff come to OSSIA : http://adrienzo.wordpress.com/

Late last year, three great toy lines teamed up together to create one masterful Kamen Rider toy collection. These three lines are: Project BM! are the creators of the RAH series (Real Action Hero series) have perfected the ultimate Rider figure, creating the most realistic replicas of our favourite Henshin Hero. S.H.S. (Souchaku Henshin Series) have trademarked their signature feature of allowing their figures to remove and equip weapons and armor. And last but not least the extremely popular Kubrick line, featuring well-detailed collectibles block type figures (reminiscent of Lego).

Well of these three came together, fused all their talents into one and with one amazing result:
