I’ll have to say that now that the series has been cancelled, I consider the series in it’s entirety to be a HUGE disappointment. The writing was POORLY done. Long needs to go back and write those obscure Warhammer modules and stay the hell out of Hollywood. –And while I’m at it, FOUR CLIP SHOWS out of 40 EPISODES?? ARE YOU INSANE??!?! We’re you just out of ideas, money, or both?
This show could not decide if it wanted to be a serious drama a la the other Japanese Kamen Rider shows or if it wanted to be a happy Power Ranger-y no one dies everyone comes back and sings Kumbaya kiddie show.
Now I’m afraid that we will have to wait another 15-20 years before anyone in the states touches the Kamen Rider rights again because of this debacle.
I watched the show from the premiere in Dec 08 til the cancellation, and I wanted it to work. I was rooting for it! It’s demise is due to two things. Number one, the writing, and number two, the choice of selling it to the CW and their failure to promote it so affiliates will actually feel compelled to SHOW it. My affiliate in NC moved the show time to 6:30am so they could sho a 30 min car commercial!!
You had 4 different writers on this show. Did you not sit down and write out the plot line before filming was done?! The show looks like the script was written the week before. That, or it’s one of those shows where the actors say in shock, “There’s a script for this!!?!”.
Sigh. So much promise and so much wasted. Perhaps someone will buy rights to Kabuto or Kiva and create something worthwhile in the United States.

No one dies, no guns around, no guns pointing at someone’s head & then someone dies. though it sounds kinda interesting, but sorry to say, i think i’ll pass. & oh, although it may sound illegal & wrong, tell Nathan or any of the production crew to download the TV-Nihon subbed Ryuuki, it’s a thousand times better than those shit ass “official” subbing or dubbing. they’ll get what’s going on then.

I have to say that this interview with the head writer of KR:DK has really helped ground my position on whether or not I will watch it once it hits the air waves. At first it looked like a cheesey matrix rip-off due to the preview trailer, but once I had watched the original Ryuki series and then watched the pilot episode on youtube it seemed like KR:DK was going to bring something to American Tokusatsu that had not been seen in, well, forever, which happens to be a sense of serious drama and action that isn’t cut off into once-an-episode-moral with the monster-of-the-week formula. I honestly believe that this will be a very good thing and get more people interested in the Kamen Rider franchise.
