A Third Garo Television Series Announced With an Entirely New Cast

Toei announced a third television season of Garo, the dark-fantasy tokusatsu series centered on the Golden Knight, in October 2012. Subtitled The One Who Shines in the Darkness (牙狼〈GARO〉～闇を照らす者～), the new season broke from its predecessors by recasting every lead role: model Wataru Kuriyama took the title part, starring alongside Junya Ikeda, previously Gokai Silver in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, with Miki Nanra and newcomer Tsunenori Aoiki rounding out the cast. Makoto Yokoyama, a director on the franchise’s earlier seasons, returned to lead the new installment.

The announcement came the same weekend the franchise’s latest theatrical entry, Garo: Dragon of the Blue Cry, screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival.
