New Makai Knights Emerge in Pachinko Game

Ahead of the film Garo: Dragon of the Blue Cry, a new pachinko machine titled Makai Decisive Battle Gaoh arrived in Japanese parlours, telling an original story set in the Garo universe and introducing all-new Makai Knights. Pachinko machines, a popular form of gambling in Japan, use marbles in place of coins, which players can trade for prizes at the parlour; several earlier Garo-themed machines had already featured fight scenes drawn from the television series, specials, and movies. This new machine, photographed by Garage Hero’s Bueno (creator of Gun Caliber), told an original CGI story built around a Makai Knight tournament featuring every previous Knight alongside three new ones.

The three new Makai Knights included the franchise’s first female Knight, the red Scorching Heat Knight Yaiba; the green Beast Body Knight Giga; and a white Knight, believed to be called Gaoh, a play on the name Garo meaning “Fanged King.” The accompanying trailer emphasized action over narrative, focusing on the Knights fighting together rather than establishing story details.
