Koichi Sakamoto Directs New Space Sheriff V-Cinema Films

Two new Space Sheriff V-Cinema films were announced for release on Blu-ray and DVD at the end of 2014. Space Sheriff Sharivan: Next Generation was set for an October 10 release, with Space Sheriff Shaider: Next Generation following on November 7. Both films are written by Arakawa, with Koichi Sakamoto serving as director and action director.

Cast details, credited to Nihon Hero, followed in an update. Riki Miura, who played Kai Hyuga / Space Sheriff Sharivan in Space Sheriff Gavan: THE MOVIE, returns to the role, with his sidekick played by Misaki Momose, previously Dino Girl Lemnear in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger: Gaburincho of Music. Hiroshi Watari, who originated Den Iga / Space Sheriff Sharivan in the original TV series, also reprises that role; Watari separately played Yousuke Jou / Jikuu Senshi Spielban and Boomerang in Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion, and appears here as the original Sharivan.

Shu Karasuma, who played Akira Date / Kamen Rider Birth and Shu Karasuma / Uchuu Keiji Shaider in Space Sheriff Gavan: THE MOVIE, reprises his Shaider role, with Mayu Kawamoto playing his sidekick. Noami Morinaga, who played Annie, sidekick to Dai Sawamura / Space Sheriff Shaider in the original TV series, and also played Helen (Hellvira) in Jikuu Senshi Spielban, returns as well. Hiroshi Tsuburaya, grandson of Ultraman creator Eiji Tsuburaya and the original Dai Sawamura / Space Sheriff Shaider, died on July 24, 2001, and will not appear. Yuga Ishigaki, who played Geki Jumonji / Space Sheriff Gavan Type-G in the Gavan movie, appears in both films.
