POWER RANGERS RPM: “THE DOME DOLLS”

POWER RANGERS RPM: “THE DOME DOLLS”

Courtesy of the Hero Power Blog Ya know, I really hope they explain where Kilobyte has been this whole time, because "I was lost" is hardly an adequate explanation as to where the best part of the episode came from. And I just don't understand what happened with this episode. Skipping through all of the plot pieces, I have to say how annoyed I was at some of the smaller details here. There were several in-battle moments where you could have just copy-and-pasted lines from 700 previous season episodes. And the thing that I had thought was so great about the fight dialogue in RPM was that they didn't fall back into the trap of saying the exact same stock lines over and over again. I remember a couple weeks back when they used the same tired-ass joke where someone says what they think ...

KAMEN RIDER DRAGON KNIGHT: “STRIKE’S ULTIMATUM” & “A RIDER’S RESOLVE”

"STRIKE'S ULTIMATUM" After finishing this special Friday airing of Dragon Knight, my first thought was surprise. At the fact that they bothered to air a commercial that told us when and where we could watch the following episode. If you've been keeping up with my thoughts on theCW4Kids, you may know how I feel about the way they've been handling these details recently. But let's move on. I'm rarely the type to say this (since I know that there will always be people who say this about every show ever made) but I really do feel like Dragon Knight gets better with every few episodes. As we become more familiar with the world and its key players, it gets that much easier to enjoy what happens. Despite some of my criticisms, I really do like this show and am excited when I think it succe...

Previously on RPM. Scott's daddy issues continued, as he disobeyed Colonel Truman to go run off with the Speed Twins and blow some stuff up. Fortunately for them, Scott was right and Truman was wrong, and they ended up saving the whole city. But the twins are proving to be a bit of a handful, as Gemma almost got herself killed in the process of trying to blast the enemy. Will the team be able to handle the cracktastic habits of their newest teammates? Let's find out! I think Gem and Gemma may be some of the most divisive characters in the entire Power Rangers franchise. They're crazy, childlike, and finish each other's sentences constantly. Some people find this incredibly annoying. I, on the other hand, love them. Both for their ridiculous comic value, and for the darker side that is...

AKA: "SO FRIGGIN CUTE!!!" Previously on RPM. Dillon's robo-brain led the team into the wastelands, where Venjix nearly blew them all to kingdom come. But speaking of explosions, Gem and Gemma arrived just in time to save them, and blasted the hell out of every enemy in sight. The two were taken back to RPM HQ, where the other Rangers were stunned to realize that Dr. K not only knows these two crazy kids, but she's brought to tears when she sees them. Ziggy must feel so un-loved right now. We begin after a short time has passed since last week, where Dr. K briefly explains to the team that Gem and Gemma have been fighting on their own in the wastelands ever since the "think tank" they grew up in was destroyed by Venjix. Gem starts: "We like to shoot first and--" Gemma finishes: "--ask q...

RPM- BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Video Update
This season of Power Rangers is an exceptional one so far. So I threw together a little something as a tribute to the show: Power Rangers RPM. It may be the last season. If it is, here's hoping it goes out with a bang. -Dr. Tristan

Previously on RPM. Dr. K basically spent her whole life working like a slave in a "think tank" with the ridiculously cheerful twins, Gem and Gemma. Tenaya also stuck a device on Dillon's neck to turn him all robotical and stuff. Summer decided she was a hypnotist and that she would use her skills to bring Dillon's memories back. Well, his memories lead the kids to the post-apocalyptic Omega City, where Venjix (in a spiffy new body) is waiting to kill them all to death. But at the last second, the Rangers are saved by two shiny new guys who talk really funny. Will the Rangers ever return from Omega City alive? Well of course they will, but let's pretend we don't know that. We begin pretty much where we left off, with the gang all huddled into the Go-Onger van (teehee). Flynn drives...

Previously on RPM. The scat really hit the fan in the last few episodes. As Dr. Kr reveals to the Rangers how she accidentally, kinda, sorta, might have had something to do with a lethal computer virus destroying civilization as we know it. Dillon has his own problems to deal with, in the form of some pesky amnesia, and a bunch of Venjix technology swimming around his insides. What's a cyborg to do? This week's episode begins with a random zord fight. Luckily, they know which monsters NOT to feature for a big story, so this guy gets taken care of pretty quickly. I'm not sure how many scenes I could have taken where the attack bot uses his lethal "Slippery Floor" technique. As a finisher, I half expected him to throw a banana at their feet in hopes that the Megazord would step on it and...

GETTING IN GEAR: “RANGER BLUE” AND RPM THUS FAR

News
Can I just say how honestly and truly I did not expect "Power Rangers RPM" to be even half of what it has been so far? The latest Ranger series has so far cut a path for itself that surpasses almost anything we've seen in the last several years from what has felt like an elderly friend on life support for a good while now. The most recent episode, "Ranger Blue" is a perfect example of all the ways in which this show is getting the job done right, and doing so with style, fun, and a visible desire to impress... The episode begins with what is probably my favorite scene this week. A Q&A session between the emotional, inquisitive Rangers and the near-emotionless, socially inept Dr. K, who barely tolerates their line of questioning. The fun part is they're asking questions that we as vi...

Previously on Dragon Knight. Spidey returned with a spiffy new makeover, and the dynamic duo of Kit and Len had to save a technician on the roof from getting captured. Len is getting his ass kicked, until Kit decides to make a contract with the dragon (whatever that means) and turns into the red guy, thus making the lead hero of the show. Meanwhile, a new enemy in the form of Kamen Rider Incisor is ready to take both our heroes down. Oh me, oh my, I do believe those are some of the longest "previously on" segments I've watched since the days of Dragon Ball Z. Complete with long pauses of dead silence. The least they could do is add more stuff from several episodes to pad the thing out, if they HAVE TO show a certain amount of past footage. After 17 hours of previously-aired footage of I...

Previously on Dragon Knight. Whatever town these people live in, there must be something in the water, because they all seem thoroughly crazy. They're seeing strange monsters that kidnap people through mirrors. And Kit Taylor is about to become just as crazy as Len (aka Keanu Schwarzenegger). Kit gets sucked into another dimension and is forced to run, as Puff the Magic Dragon tries to kill 'em with fire! We begin just where we left off, as Kit is blasted by the dragon and does his best Tarzan yell in response. The armored Kit and Len get thrown through the city like rag dolls. Kit is understandably perplexed at this unlikely series of events. But Len doesn't have time for a heart-to-heart, so he tells him to hurry up and follow him through the mirror. Sadly, Kit is too busy marvell...
