Review: Kamen Rider Build SODO Figures Wave 1

Review: Kamen Rider Build SODO Figures Wave 1

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys
Well, I haven't hidden my disdain for this year's Kamen Rider toy gimmick very well, but these figures are everything the BCR line should have been and more! I present to you all the SODO line of figures for Kamen Rider Build. Wave 1 contains 3 figures, 2 Best Matches (Rabbit/Tank and Gorilla/Mond) and 1 Trial form (Harinezumi/Soujiki). All of these figures are great, they're show accurate, they articulate beautifully and they can swap around like the show and maintain all the great articulation. The only potential downside (completely dependent on the individual) is the use of stickers, tho if you watch the video to the end you'll see I've provided a solid solution to your potential sticker pealing nightmares. At the end of the day this line is cheaper than 1 BCR figure, articulates be...
Review: Kamen Rider Build Bottle Change Rider #01 Rabbit Tank Form

Review: Kamen Rider Build Bottle Change Rider #01 Rabbit Tank Form

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys, Videos
Every year, we get our gimmick line of figures. These figures are meant to emulate the form changes that we see on the show and every year it's a coin flip if these figures will be good or not. Unfortunately, for this year's Kamen Rider Build, we lost that flip, in my opinion. The BCR (Bottle Change Rider) line forgoes 2 major points of articulation, in the waist and head, to achieve its form-swapping. The arms and legs are great, they're pretty standard for the yearly gimmick line, but without waist or head movement, posing and playing with this figure isn't a fun time at all. Aesthetically he looks great, bright red and blue, even the belt is painted which is a rarity in these lines of figures. He comes with his Drill Crusher as well, unpainted as usual, it's permanently in its swo...
Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Hawk Gatlinger

Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Hawk Gatlinger

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Build's new form, HawkGatling, is his first to have an exclusive weapon- the Hawk Gatlinger. This item is interesting in that it's not a bad toy but it doesn't come with any Full Bottles nor does it interact with them to add any extra depth or playability to it. Now this is not totally unheard of in Kamen Rider but it will definitely deter fans from the purchase, though after the DX Drill Crusher setting the bar so low, the Hawk Gatlinger is a good step in the right direction. So what does it do? Well for starters you can pull the trigger for classic gun shot sounds, rotating the barrel gives out a number from 10-100 (counting by tens) and fires that many shots the next time the trigger is pulled. When the barrel is rotated ten times and it announces "one hundred" the fin...
Review: Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger DX Saiko Kyutama

Review: Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger DX Saiko Kyutama

Super Sentai, Toku, Toys
Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger has been running for 30 episodes and the Kyutama gimmick has been stale for a while now, but thankfully the Saiko Kyutama changes the game! This Kyutama is huge and stylized to really stand out from the bunch with its red coloring and beautiful blue ring. It also has its own electronics but unlike the Hikari Kyutama that tried (and failed) to work its sounds in tandem with the Seiza Blaster, the Saiko Kyutama tells the Seiza Blaster to sit back, relax and let it handle all the awesome new sounds. So what can it do? Well, for starters we have 5 attacks with just the Kyutama itself, these have yet to be seen in the show (as of this recording) so we don't know what they do just yet. After you insert it into the Seiza Blaster (or hold the button down with your fin...

Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Hawk Gatling Full Bottle Set

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys
Well, Kamen Rider Build episode 3 just came out and we already have our newest form released in plastic. Taka and Gatling are the next two Full Bottles that create Build's HawkGatling form, the rampage of the skies! These two toys are pretty standard as far as Full Bottles are concerned, they're cheap, they unlock a new henshin jingle and they come in two new colors. If you like what you see, be sure to pick them up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7kcqNsvsHM For this and other Kamen Rider and Tokusatsu merchandise, check out CSToys and BigBadToyStore.

Reviews: Kamen Rider Build DX Full Bottle Holder, GorillaMond Bottles, Drill Crusher

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys, Video Update
Ah, the classic "holder" toy. This has pretty much become a staple of the yearly Kamen Rider franchise, very few seasons skip it. In Kamen Rider Build's case, the draw is not the holder but the exclusive gimmick item it comes with. With the Full Bottle Holder you get 3 empty slots for 3 Full Bottles (too bad 8 are already out, making this thing obsolete already). It comes with the Soujiki Full Bottle, and currently this is the only way to get this toy. The overall set isn't bad, sure it costs more than your average Full Bottle Set, but not by much so the price, this time around, won't put off too many fans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYZI2gFhPbs&feature=youtu.be Next, our first Full Bottle set is here. Well actually it was released before the Driver, but that's beside the poin...
Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Build Driver

Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Build Driver

Kamen Rider, Toku, Toys, Videos
Well, Kamen Rider Build has begun and with the new series comes new toys. Today we have the DX Build Driver. The Build Driver is very different from the Gamer Driver of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid in that it has all the sounds pre-programmed into it. This may be a bit off-putting at first, since additional sounds are going to be limited to what is currently inside the Driver, but the trade-off is a bigger, heavier Driver that feels more like a piece of high-tech machinery than a piece of plastic. The crank is very satisfying as well and the sound effects are solid, though a unique sound for each Voltech Finish would have been a welcome addition. Full Bottles on the other hand are surprisingly smaller than they appear on the show. They, of course, make no sound effects on their own but they do hav...
