Well, that was easy. Infini-T Force, the animated superhero drama that unites characters from several different iconic series, is available to watch now for free, in Japanese with English subtitles, courtesy of TubiTV and Viz.com. We discussed the show before it was released to the masses, but now we can all see it for ourselves. Already, the first two episodes are up for streaming, and they're a doozy. Gathering heroes from the Tatsunoko Productions classics Gatchaman, Casshan, Tekkaman, and Hurricane Polimar, the new series begins with a bang, but quickly settles into its greatest strength, which is its loving portrayal of the characters from each of these famous anime titles. I especially enjoy Joe the Eagle of Gatchaman, who presents almost like some kind of Reverse Captain ...

Let the rubber bodies hit the floor, with this sickass trailer for the all-new Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders. This winter Kamen Rider film brings together a host of legends from the franchise's recent history, including Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, Kamen Rider Gaim, Kamen Rider Fourze, and more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1CbwR8RMzg Now, I know this is a movie, but I didn't expect this trailer to make it look so much like a movie! There's a highly cinematic quality to the editing style chosen for this presentation that I am completely okay with. Of course, we know that it's still going to be the usual "really expensive TV episode" flavor that pervades the whole event in actuality, but I love the degree of serious prestig...

Hold onto your Pocky, anime fans. Batman is coming back to the Japanese animation world with an all-new project, descending upon us in 2018. This time, he brings with him a pool of talent that gave us the likes of the animated Afro Samurai as well as the special effects actioner Kamen Rider Fourze. While Batman inches one step closer to his apparent goal of filling every possible screen on every continent at the exact same time, here's a brief rundown of what we know so far. This feature-length anime, titled simply Batman Ninja, is the work of director Mizusaki Junpei, whose talents were brought to several MegaMan X video games before landing a producing gig with the popular JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. Joining him is Nakashima Kazuki, best known to some of us as a lead writer f...

Kamen Rider Build Episode 5 Rocks the House

Five episodes into reviewing this marvelous TV show, and I'm wondering if Kamen Rider Build will even have episodes that don't contribute to the overall plot in some way. So far, every episode has majorly factored into the ongoing expansion of Build's world and the characters within, showing no signs of stopping. Let's dive into the events of Episode 5 and count up our title hero's list of fashion crimes. As if the awesomeness of Build's dueling recaps couldn't get any better, we now have the cafe owner Soichi getting in on the narration game, opting for a slightly longer summation of recent events. My first thought is that, yeah, they actually kind of need this. There are some Kamen Rider shows where the recap feels almost like a waste, because they're not actually reviewing anything...

Naomi Scott's star is on the rise lately. The British import starred in this year's Power Rangers reboot film as high school queen bee superhero Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, only to be later cast as Arabian Princess Jasmine in the live-action reboot of another beloved franchise, Disney's Aladdin. She may be putting her singing chops to good use in that role, but in the meantime, she's got new music of her own to show off. From her upcoming EP, here's the official video for her latest single, Vows. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWxk3bNXgAk In this artful R&B music video, Naomi is seen in the reflection of her rearview mirror as she drives through the neon-soaked Tokyo, Japan. Astute Ranger fans may raise an eyebrow at the subtitles which alternate between a pink and yellow font, ...

In 2010, a curiosity emerged from the aethers of tokusatsu obscurity. Fans of the special effects subgenre were treated to an amusing little promotional video, advertising what was then meant to be an upcoming, new series called SF X Fantasy Rayforce. With one short video, toku enthusiasts' imaginations were set alight with the possibilities of this Korean action drama in the making. But alas, like so many projects of this type, some of which we only hear of in passing, trading pictures and scraps of footage in fan circles in hopes of glimpsing its potential greatness, Rayforce was one fantasy that would not be brought to life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX3A8OFgMBo Nearly all that is known about Rayforce as a series is contained within the one video release ahead of the proposed ...

Another beloved Japanese animated title is about to be adapted for American consumption, and so our watch begins. The track record of Hollywood in handling anime properties has not always been the steadiest. Recent efforts like this year's Ghost in the Shell failed to impress while some pray each day that the Akira adaptation never gets motivated enough to actually happen after years driving fans to drink. This is the atmosphere into which Sword Art Online enters. The novel and animated series about people trapped within a virtual reality, living out their lives in a fantasy world of swords and savagery, has built a passionate fanbase over the years, so it seemed inevitable that someone would eventually come knocking on its door. For better or for worse, we'd like to remain positive a...

The excitement lasts all night long in the new Kamen Rider Climax Fighters video game, ready to Rider Kick its way into English-speaking homes this winter. Featuring superheroes from across the Kamen Rider television franchise battling it out for supremacy on a grand stage (because reasons), to decide once and for all who really starts on a climax. Take a gander at the sick trailer, featuring the dulcet tones of PANDORA and the Kamen Rider Girls, providing the soundtrack to this epic battle royale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BVUClirzvo Well, they already had my curiosity, but seeing the video open with Kamen Rider Faiz Axel, now they have my attention. Joining him in this fighting game event are Kamen Rider Den-O, Kamen Rider Gaim, Kamen Rider Double, the new Kamen Rider Build, a...

Tatsunoko Productions celebrates 55 years of badassery with the animated crossover event, Infini-T Force. The CG anime series gathers heroes from four of its classic titles to form a new band of superpowered saviors. Dating as far back as 1972, these iconic characters have been through many iterations across the decades, finally arriving together in this television story that unifies them all in grand fashion. In case the amusingly on-the-nose meta-joke in the name "Infini-T" doesn't ring any bells, this team consists of four main players, nearly all of which have had some connection to the English-speaking world, even if only in a Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon sort of way. First there's Ken the Eagle from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. His anime adventures are well-known to anime fans...

Okay, wow. Reviewing this show gets harder with each passing week. I keep thinking I'll just have a few cool moments to touch on and suddenly I'm overwhelmed with how many interesting little details there are that just demand to be talked about. With the amount of action, intrigue, and character development this show packs into a twenty-minute timeframe, you wonder how other shows seem to have trouble doing it with four times as much space! Kamen Rider Build is not here to waste your time. We begin in Flashback Mode, returning to the point where our genius Sento is being forced against his will to take part in the deranged experiments of Faust, the procedure that we assume has cost our poor rebel hero his memories. I don't think it's an accident, or throwaway joke, that we hear a voic...
