It's a foregone conclusion that any sufficiently epic movie from Japan will, at some point leading up to its release, put out a trailer with a seemingly random pop music track suddenly bursting through our speakers. As cities come alight with atomic fire and buildings are toppled around fleeing citizens, someone, somewhere is belting her heart out about love and happiness to a jaunty club beat. It's just the way of the world. And so, here we are, with the arrival of the official music video for XAI's "WHITE OUT", theme song to Toho's latest in a long line of kaiju flicks, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters.
We got our first taste of this song a while back when the film's recent trailer dropped, though I'll forgive you if it slipped your mind. I know it slipped mine, since the visuals of...
In Ultraman Fusion Fight, the towering monsters of the Ultra Series multiverse and the giant heroes who defend against them are swept up in a battle for supremacy. As modern Ultraman features characters whose strange and varied forms are combined and manipulated into new "fusions", this arcade-style Carddass game capitalizes on that feature to the Nth degree, constantly updating with newer and more bizarre meldings of popular figures from their decades-spanning franchise. Including those of 2017's Ultraman Geed and 2016's Ultraman Orb.
If the name Carddass makes you think of aliens from Star Trek rather than the mechanics of the game, fret not. As far back as 1988, toy behemoth Bandai has consistently released new DataCarddass collectible trading cards, based upon many well-known prop...
As reported last week, Hyper RPG has begun its new streaming series Power Rangers Hyperforce, the live tabletop RPG show, courtesy of Twitch. Continuing with their releases of each episode recording, the show's second episode has dropped. And hopefully, you've still got a bit of the Halloween spirit left in you, because Hyperforce definitely does.
The costumes are out in full force for this 2.5-hour episode, including a pretty spiffy samurai outfit for Power Rangers star Paul Schrier, whose list of credits in the franchise is as long as a Chrono Saber, not limited to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers in Space, and of course, Power Rangers Samurai.
In all that time, he's never quite known what it's like to be a Ranger himself, though...
Have we had enough Green Ranger controversy yet?
Adding on to the pile this year, we have a puzzling interaction between two martial arts action stars near the shallow end of the popularity pool, both of which having gained a sizable chunk of their notoriety in the early 1990s. Belgian entertainer Jean-Claude Van Damme for his plethora of cinematic actioners in the age of neon and slap bracelets, and actor-turned-MMA-fighter Jason David Frank of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fame. While we'd like to believe this conflict started when someone challenged them to count up the letters in the multitude of names between them to see which one has the lengthiest identifier, we're afraid this well runs a bit deeper.
It's actually been a few years since the feud of the initial-named butt-kick...
