"She doesn't know. She's from the 90s!" In the last episode of Power Rangers HyperForce, the team encountered Green/Black/Red/White/RedAgain Ranger Tommy Oliver as special guest Jason David Frank joined the cast for a dino-centric adventure on this tabletop RPG series. The streaming gamesters of Twitch and HyperRPG have kicked up a lot of drama in their story of time-displaced cadets tasked with protecting the world as they leap from one corner of the far-reaching Power Rangers universe to another. This time, Scorpina makes a striking return to the story after her first appearance weeks earlier. The series became the subject of some debate in recent weeks as viewership numbers failed to meet expectations, leaving fans to ponder the fate of the show that has surprised many viewers,...

Does POWER RANGERS Company Saban Brands Have an Employment Problem?

Since 1993, Saban has dazzled children and parents alike with the exploits of the spandex-clad heroes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and their many, many offshoots which have stretched their reign of dominance over toy aisles and screens across the entertainment landscape. But, for almost as long, we've heard murmurs of discontent about the state of the company that largely shepherded this beloved franchise to prominence. We've often wondered what it was that made this show tick behind the scenes, and why certain creative decisions may have been made in the last few years, which saw a sharp decline in audience reception, ironically a short time after the newly-christened Saban Brands retook the Power Rangers intellectual property from temporary rights-holders Disney. That was 2010. S...

The Power Rangers comic book saga rolls on with BOOM! Studios' first major event, Power Rangers: Shattered Grid. This time, it'll take more than the teenage saviors of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to send him packing. To that end, the ongoing series is recruiting an army of heroes from across the decades-spanning television franchise, many of whom longtime fans have been dying to see since the comic came into being. In a January 11, 2018 "Honesty Hour" video, HyperRPG CEO Zac Eubank lamented the number of live viewers that tuned into the January 9, 2018 stream of the Twitch.tv show Power Rangers HyperForce.  HyperRPG is the live studio and Twitch Affiliate that developed the tabletop roleplaying series and streams its weekly installments. Recent comments on the subject leave some fans wondering if HyperForce is long for this world. In response to a viewer question regarding maintaining hype for gaming projects, Eubank stated: I'm just gonna be completely honest with you guys, ok? One hundred percent honest with you.  When we did HyperForce this week, there were only eight hundred viewers....That's not enough.  That's not enough for Saban to go, like, 'oh, enough people like this show.' It's...

Shout! Factory continues to crush it with their ongoing home video releases of the Super Sentai franchise as they prepare to roll out Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoV a mere three months after their impending release for its predecessor, Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. The 1999 series was eventually adapted for American consumption by Saban as Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, and like all of Shout's titles in the Super Sentai line, this marks one of the first times the original story will be told unedited for its official US release. GoGoV chronicled the exploits of the Tatsumi Family as they waged war against a horde of monsters bent upon destroying everything their rescue organization fought to protect. A bit of trivia, which may constitute a mild spoiler for the uninitiated, concerns how the team ...

Emergency! POWER RANGERS’ Chris Violette Returns to STAR TREK: DISCOVERY

Power Rangers fans who tuned into the premiere episode of the new Star Trek: Discovery got a surprise late last year when one of their own from the spandex-sheathed superhero saga appeared aboard the bridge of the USS Shenzhou as a Starfleet Officer. Chris Violette, known best to many of us here at Henshin Justice Unlimited as Blue Ranger Sky Tate from Power Rangers SPD, had a guest-starring role on the 2017 space opera, as an officer in the star-spanning United Federation of Planets. Not the biggest leap from his job aboard SPD, where he was also a man in uniform, fighting to protect the innocent from the weird and wondrous alien threats of the future. We hoped we might see Violette again on Discovery, but after the events of its two-part opener, many believed we had closed the book on ...

Love it or hate it, Power Rangers HyperForce continues its story on streaming behemoth Twitch, serving as its own unique storytelling platform with its cast of role-playing gamers, setting out on an imaginative quest through time and space to save the world in this Hyper RPG series you won't find on television. And while the cast already includes two alumni from the Saban Brands TV franchise (Peter Sudarso of Power Rangers Ninja Steel, Paul Schrier of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and more), along with a number of special guests, Hyperforce originally packed even more Ranger star power, in the form of Ciara Hanna. In 2013's Power Rangers Megaforce, Hanna played Yellow Ranger Gia, the closest thing the recent era of the long-running franchise has to a Teenager with Attitude. But before Han...

From Power Rangers to Star Wars to Marvel, 2017 was a year of miracles when it came to popular action titles all vying for a spot in our crowded geek hearts here at Henshin Justice Unlimited. And along the way, many fan groups have brought us their take on the anime, tokusatsu, video game, and fantasy action titles we loved in the year we leave behind. To say farewell to 2017, one such group has put together a piece highlighting their journey through the last twelve months of power, and we'll leave few nerd franchises untouched before the music finally stops pumping. We featured a video from Kamen Ramen Studios a few months back featuring the Lunar Wolf Ranger of Power Rangers Jungle Fury facing off against Black Panther of the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
