Welcome back to Super Hero Synopses, where we maintain records of all activities related to Japanese superheroes. This week is filled with investigations, as Sento tries to determine the secrets of Misora's bangle, and the Global Police are trying to crack a string of missing person cases. Which do you prefer - the lighthearted hijinks of Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, or the tragedy and tension of Kamen Rider Build? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below or anywhere else in the unlimited world of HJU. Kamen Rider Build, Episode 25 “An Idol Awakens” Following on from last week's battle, Misora appears with her bracelet and eyes aglow. She raises her arm and summons a strong wind. At her command, a section of the Sky Wall par...

Well, I'll be a dead monkey's bloody uncle. If you haven't yet caught up on the legend in the making that is the Kamen Rider Build television series, I forgive your mistake. Since it exploded onto the scene a few months ago, it gave the impression that it was telling its story a bit differently from its predecessors in the long-running action hero franchise. It had a way with character, world-building, and general tone that set itself apart from the rest, and that only becomes more apparent as the surprisingly dramatic, strikingly creative series spins on. Especially when it comes to its dynamic portrayal of the villains in the series, the exploration of which can sometimes feel as complicated and rich as how it treats its many heroic figures. Which brings us to the current GOAT of th...

What do Kamen Rider Drive, Spyro The Dragon, Super Mario Bros, and Buzz Lightyear of Toy Story all have in common? They each have their own line of video game gimmick figures. Let's rewind it back to December 2014. Bandai Namco had just pumped out another game for their live-action Kamen Rider franchise on TV in Japan, this one with a slight twist. Bandai Namco wanted to hop in on the gimmick figure market much like like its competitors at Skylanders, Amiibo, and Disney Infinity, so they made Kamen Rider Summonride. Unfortunately, due to poor game design, bad controls, and the fact that the figures are extremely lackluster, Summonride fell flat. It's time to pick up that Dualshock 3, and watch as our Friends of Justice at Fighting Frogs Ultra attempt to get down and dirty with some ...

Here's a little something to jam to while waiting for your next fix when it comes to the heroes of the tokusatsu world. From Kamen Rider to Super Sentai to Power Rangers, Youtuber Studio Megaane has been delivering one nostalgic twist after another on the special-effects shows we at Henshin Justice Unlimited hold most dear. Plus quite a few other titles both of the live-action and animated variety. Studio Megaane creates music tracks in the style of old school 8-bit video games, generating a unique sound not to be duplicated, especially for those of us who fondly remember the days when this was pretty much all you had when mashing buttons and cursing the incredibly difficult games of the era. You haven't known true struggle until you've been felled by your hundredth accidental landing...

Welcome back to Super Hero Synopses, your weekly record of the paths our heroes must walk upon in a bid to become new legends. This week we're mostly transcribing painful memories as Kamen Rider Build explores the trials Gentoku underwent in order to become Kamen Rider Rogue, and Kaito Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger digs down to uncover the motivation driving our newest blue ranger to a life of crime. But it isn't all flashbacks of miserable experiences, as the mysteries behind Misora and Kogure deepen further. As always, please feel free to leave your comments in the section below or anywhere else in the world of HJU. We'd love to know how you think these shows are stacking up, not just against each other but within their own franchises too. Also, please keep an eye ...

If you're one of the five people left that doesn't yet know the greatness that is Black Panther, Marvel Studios' latest entry in their indomitable Cinematic Universe, don't worry. Even the original Kamen Rider gives it his stamp of approval. Game respects game, apparently. The first of a long legacy of superheroes in the Land of the Rising Sun, actor and martial artist Fujioka Hiroshi battled the forces of evil in 1971 as the avenging cyborg hero Kamen Rider Ichigo, and once he had made Japan safe from villainous hands (for a while anyway) he set out on a quest to free the rest of the world from the tightening grip of super-terrorism. Which brings him, seemingly, on his quest to find the mysterious land of Wakanda. No foolin! Fujioka actually states that he went on a quest to find Black ...

Hold onto your butts, anime fans. Bleach is now a live-action film. The hit original manga series by Kubo Tite first was adapted into an animated tale stretching across 366 episodes before finally signing off. Now, Bleach returns in a new way, with actor Fukushi Sato in the lead role. Fans of his work in the Kamen Rider special effects action franchise may know him best as the title superhero of 2011's Kamen Rider Fourze, where he played a high schooler whose greatest ambition was making friends with every student in his class, which just happened to be ravaged by fantastical monsters. So, not the biggest stretch to find him playing Kurosaki Ichigo, whose town is... ravaged by fantastical monsters. Bleach creator Kubo said of the original comic that it was designed as a title that wou...

I so want to make a Kamen Rider Hibiki joke right now, but nothing comes to mind. Alas. Suda Masaki's star has risen considerably since his stint as the quirky second part of the half-and-half super-detective in 2009's Kamen Rider W. Leaping from one prestigious role in television and film to another, he's grown more popular than his talent agency deems appropriate for him to return to cameo in the Kamen Rider franchise that many of us know him best from. But as he continues to further branch out in the entertainment world, he gears up to release his new album, including some previously-released tracks as well as new pieces exclusively for this debut album. Here's Suda singing "Scenery I've Never Seen Before" for a commercial celebrating Japanese national soccer. https://youtu....
