WAKE UP to the high-quality goodness of Kamen Rider Kiva. The violin-strumming superhero Wataru finally comes to Blu-ray next year, marking the show's 10th anniversary. As I quietly cry into a bowl of soggy cheerios over the fact that it's already been 10 years since this stellar series, check these stats for the upcoming release. Cho-Animedia brings us the lowdown on these items, reportedly containing never-before-seen reflections from the show's cast. A total of three separate sets have been announced at 19,600 yen a pop. Starting with the first release on January 10, then the second on March 7, and finally May 9 will see the last installment. A sweet home video release for any creature of the night.

Note to China’s ‘Fake Ultraman’ Creators – Don’t Piss Off the Originals

A loud thunderclap rang out in the Ultraman fandom when it was announced that Dragon Force: So Long, Ultraman, the sequel to China's animated Dragon Force movie, would feature their own interpretation of the classic red-and-silver giant hero Ultraman, owned by Japan's Tsuburaya Productions. Not only that, but this character, whose use of the Ultraman name is highly discouraged by its Japanese owners, was portrayed as a villain in the film's promotional material. Embroiled in legal battles for years over the rights to their original intellectual property, Tsuburaya has had its hands full. But they're not the only ones upset over this development. It seems even the Ultraman actors themselves have begun adding their voices to the chorus speaking out against this project. Actor and musici...

Halloween is fast approaching, and for some that means the search for the perfect costume may soon begin, if it hasn't already. If you're feeling like letting your nerd flag fly, you might consider these suits and props inspired by the Power Rangers movie. If nothing else, you know you won't have to suffer being the fifteenth Stranger Things kid people see by the time you show up to the party. These costumes come from the people at Disguise. They're sporting a wide range of sizes and styles, available for child and adult fans alike. Among their offerings are Ranger suits in both "classic" and "muscle" form, as well as gloves, weapons, helmets, and even a full Megazord outfit.   I love that even the costume model is wearing heels here. Because nothing says "mortal combat...

Since 2011, Kamen Rider The Diner has been serving food and drinks inspired by the many heroes, villains, and other eccentrics of the Kamen Rider superhero universe. Starting this week, the Tokyo restaurant is cooking up some special treats for the Halloween season, featuring Ghosts of Kamen Rider Past and Present. Many of us will be left without the chance to sample these delights, but it won't hurt (much) to make your mouth water a bit. The diner's official Twitter gave us the heads up on their Halloween-themed menu items. It's not every day someone can recommend you swallow graphite and actually mean it in a good way. Among the drinks inspired by the monster Graphite from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, you also have items for the Wolf Orphenoch from Kamen Rider Faiz, Ikadevil and Bee ...

Well, that was easy. Infini-T Force, the animated superhero drama that unites characters from several different iconic series, is available to watch now for free, in Japanese with English subtitles, courtesy of TubiTV and Viz.com. We discussed the show before it was released to the masses, but now we can all see it for ourselves. Already, the first two episodes are up for streaming, and they're a doozy. Gathering heroes from the Tatsunoko Productions classics Gatchaman, Casshan, Tekkaman, and Hurricane Polimar, the new series begins with a bang, but quickly settles into its greatest strength, which is its loving portrayal of the characters from each of these famous anime titles. I especially enjoy Joe the Eagle of Gatchaman, who presents almost like some kind of Reverse Captain ...

Let the rubber bodies hit the floor, with this sickass trailer for the all-new Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FINAL: Build & Ex-Aid with Legend Riders. This winter Kamen Rider film brings together a host of legends from the franchise's recent history, including Kamen Rider Build, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, Kamen Rider Gaim, Kamen Rider Fourze, and more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1CbwR8RMzg Now, I know this is a movie, but I didn't expect this trailer to make it look so much like a movie! There's a highly cinematic quality to the editing style chosen for this presentation that I am completely okay with. Of course, we know that it's still going to be the usual "really expensive TV episode" flavor that pervades the whole event in actuality, but I love the degree of serious prestig...

Hold onto your Pocky, anime fans. Batman is coming back to the Japanese animation world with an all-new project, descending upon us in 2018. This time, he brings with him a pool of talent that gave us the likes of the animated Afro Samurai as well as the special effects actioner Kamen Rider Fourze. While Batman inches one step closer to his apparent goal of filling every possible screen on every continent at the exact same time, here's a brief rundown of what we know so far. This feature-length anime, titled simply Batman Ninja, is the work of director Mizusaki Junpei, whose talents were brought to several MegaMan X video games before landing a producing gig with the popular JoJo's Bizarre Adventure anime. Joining him is Nakashima Kazuki, best known to some of us as a lead writer f...

Night Rogue is locked and loaded, ready to lay the smackdown on his fugitive nemesis, Kamen Rider Build, with these new SH Figuarts toys from the Kamen Rider Build television series. Pose these two lethal enemies in various positions as you force them to fight (or whatever) across the torrid landscape of your desk, or dresser, or wherever else you put them so they can do their thing. Check em out. Tamashii Nations gifted us with this first image of the two new items. It's unspecified at this time when and how Night Rogue's sexy form will be up for sale, but Kamen Rider Build's red-and-blue RabbitTank figure is set for a February 2018 release. Coinciding with the Tenth Anniversary celebration of the prestigious SH Figuarts line, the RabbitTank figure is being offered for 3,456 ye...

Kamen Rider Build Episode 5 Rocks the House

Five episodes into reviewing this marvelous TV show, and I'm wondering if Kamen Rider Build will even have episodes that don't contribute to the overall plot in some way. So far, every episode has majorly factored into the ongoing expansion of Build's world and the characters within, showing no signs of stopping. Let's dive into the events of Episode 5 and count up our title hero's list of fashion crimes. As if the awesomeness of Build's dueling recaps couldn't get any better, we now have the cafe owner Soichi getting in on the narration game, opting for a slightly longer summation of recent events. My first thought is that, yeah, they actually kind of need this. There are some Kamen Rider shows where the recap feels almost like a waste, because they're not actually reviewing anything...

SF X Fantasy Rayforce – What Might Have Been Blown Up

In 2010, a curiosity emerged from the aethers of tokusatsu obscurity. Fans of the special effects subgenre were treated to an amusing little promotional video, advertising what was then meant to be an upcoming, new series called SF X Fantasy Rayforce. With one short video, toku enthusiasts' imaginations were set alight with the possibilities of this Korean action drama in the making. But alas, like so many projects of this type, some of which we only hear of in passing, trading pictures and scraps of footage in fan circles in hopes of glimpsing its potential greatness, Rayforce was one fantasy that would not be brought to life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vX3A8OFgMBo Nearly all that is known about Rayforce as a series is contained within the one video release ahead of the proposed ...
