Well, here we are. At the moment many of us have been waiting several weeks for: When the identity of the new hero of the Kamen Rider Build TV series is finally revealed. Of course, everybody and their momma had already figured it out ages ago, and it's doubtful the show was even trying to keep it a big secret this whole time. But for those of us who have been loving the show so far, and watching the quick but steady growth of Ryuuga as a character, coming into his own as a freedom fighter in this upside-down world our protagonists are living in, it's been something to look forward to. And the moment of truth definitely does not disappoint. Let's dive into the eleventh episode of this stellar series as I continue to wonder if they can possibly sustain this level of quality throughout at ...

Kamen Rider Build Episode 10 Shows Us How It’s Done, With an Action-Packed Heist

It's been two weeks since our last visit with the motley crew of heroes, rivals, and frenemies of Kamen Rider Build, and they've chosen quite the cliffhanger to leave us dangling from. With the Touto science lab about to be invaded by the terrorist organization known as Faust, loyalties on every possible side are being tested at each corner, tensions are high, and the show has geared up for its most thrilling episode yet. How do they keep outdoing themselves like this? We begin with a rare recap that doesn't include a pseudo-fourth-wall-breaker of the main characters sarcastically commenting on their own show as usual, instead preferring to just roll the clips in as dramatic a fashion as they can muster, slowly building us toward the coming siege. After the opening credits (with a s...

Infini-T Force: When Worlds Collide – The Journey So Far

When the lead heroes of four of Tatsunoko Productions' most beloved anime series are plucked from their separate stories and thrown into the CG animated blender that is Infini-T Force, the result is a surprisingly sensitive, character-focused musing on life, which just happens to have a truckload of explosions. Having been fed a steady diet of the shake-and-bake battle marathons of the tokusatsu subgenre, where some crossovers are more about how many collectible toys can be mixed and matched between the characters than how any of their lives may be affected by it all, this was a refreshing ride. That's not to ignore the many times heroes of Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman and the like gather up from their respective continuities and tear up the battlefield. Indeed, many of those a...

Well, that settles it. With this episode ending the way it does, leading us into a direct continuation for next time, that means Kamen Rider Build has had ten straight episodes of pure plot with absolutely no narrative pitstops. Skip episodes at your own peril with this show, they're not taking any breaks. They may, on occasion, break you though. With one leap of development and dramatic revelation after another, no stones are left unturned with this amazing series and my love for it increases with each passing week. After another amazing recap, where genius amnesiac Kiryuu Sento learns that cafe owner Isurugi Soichi gave him his new name by throwing together the Japanese characters for "tank" (sen) and "rabbit" (to) and combining them with the family name of his barber Kiryuu, our st...

Ultraman Geed Wins Again, With a Trio of Episodes Fit for a King

Ultraman Geed has multi-parters growing out of every orifice these days, doesn't it? With few exceptions, this series has kicked into high gear since we struck the halfway point, and I can't tell you how happy I am to be in this sweet spot. This is where things get interesting. Where we're done setting up the status quo and having random yarns about cute pet monsters or smelly saunas and are ready to pay off everything that's been building up these past dozen or so episodes. In our last review, young hero Asakura Riku grappled with the startling revelation that he was the son of the twisted Ultraman Belial, created as a means for the supervillain to acquire more power in his latest worlds-conquering scheme. We also found ourselves smack dab in the middle of one of those multi-parters ...

If you're anything like me, then your love of Kamen Rider Build and its slowly expanding universe has steadily grown in the past few weeks since it first hit the airwaves. For those that are, and those who have yet to know its greatness, there is the Kamen Rider Build Character Book, featuring high-quality photos of the show's lead cast. Heroes, villains, and whatever Utsumi's supposed to be, all gathered for this book. Let's have a glance.   For those unaware, Character Books focus entirely on the actors in civilian costume, and thus rarely feature any actual Kamen Rider suits or fantasy props like those typically found in the more traditional TV-kun or Toei Hero MAX. So, no toys in sight here. It's all about the people. Showcasing the stars in various photos as well as s...

S.H. Figuarts Ultraman Geed – When Super Mega’s Just Not Enough

Forgive the Ultraman Tiga US dub reference, I just couldn't help myself. Ultraman Geed is getting his own splendid S.H. Figuarts from the fine folks at Bandai Tamashii Nations. This model represents the title hero's classic form, known as Ultraman Geed Primitive. The evil Ultra, Belial's heroic offspring will stand proudly and take no guff in this highly poseable item.   One couldn't be blamed for thinking at first glance that the image of Geed rising into his giant form was a still image from the series rather than a photograph of the actual figure, with added effects. Release date for this item is set for February 2018 and is priced at 5,940 yen. Check the Bandai Tamashii Nations website for further details. "You've been enlisted into a top-secret agency called ...
