Shout! Factory continues to crush it with their ongoing home video releases of the Super Sentai franchise as they prepare to roll out Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoV a mere three months after their impending release for its predecessor, Seijuu Sentai Gingaman. The 1999 series was eventually adapted for American consumption by Saban as Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, and like all of Shout's titles in the Super Sentai line, this marks one of the first times the original story will be told unedited for its official US release. GoGoV chronicled the exploits of the Tatsumi Family as they waged war against a horde of monsters bent upon destroying everything their rescue organization fought to protect. A bit of trivia, which may constitute a mild spoiler for the uninitiated, concerns how the team ...

It was only October when we reported on their last home media title, Garo - Kiba: The Dark Knight. Kraken Releasings' official synopsis sets the stage for their latest: In the ancient war against the monstrous creatures known as Horrors, many Makai Priestesses have fought and died in battle, yet no woman has ever been chosen to wear the mystic armor of the Makai Knights. Kouga, the current bearer of the gold wolf armor ...

There'll be plenty of holiday cheer in the M-78 Nebula as Ultraman Taro, the sixth in the long-lasting Ultra Series, makes its way to Blu-ray this season. Relive all the classic monster-fighting action, or experience it for the first time, as Higashi Kotaro joins the cosmic Ultra Brothers in their neverending battle to protect the innocent from the vile menace of giant monsters plaguing the Earth. The 1973 series was the tenth anniversary work of Tsuburaya Productions, hoping to bring back a lighter touch to the Ultra canon after a somewhat dark tone had been taken with the previous title, Ultraman Ace. Sadly, this proved only to chase away adult viewers of the time, leading to the decidedly more mature Ultraman Leo the following year. Taro serves as a fascinating artifact of the era ...

Level up the drama with these promotional videos for the new Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Trilogy releases. In the aftermath of the colorful explosionfest of the Kamen Rider Ex-Aid television series, there's plenty of unfinished business (and toys to sell) from the cast of doctors-turned-video-game heroes fighting to protect their patients from the bizarre "game sickness". And they're not pulling any punches with this set of home video sequels. People are screaming bloody murder, or just plain getting bloody murdered, as shots are fired, people have conversations with themselves, and computer-generated super-nurse Poppy is... just as Poppy as she's ever been. Check em out. https://youtu.be/fpfMwtLwOWU https://youtu.be/knTTb8wpaSA Daaamn. Not only did they bring back Hiro's lost lady Saki for on...

In 1993, the kaiju wranglers of Tsuburaya Productions devised a fresh series while on a break from their illustrious Ultraman franchise. This new show would see the birth of a digitized superhero who faced "giant monsters" in a computer-generated landscape to save the world from unseen threats. Many know him as Gridman: The Hyper Agent, but if you were an American viewer in the early 1990s, you might have first come into contact with this bane of electronic monsters in the form of the US adaptation, Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad. Now, with the help of the fine folks at the TOKU network, you'll get a chance to sample Gridman's original adventures on US television. As previously reported, TOKU is Olympusat Inc.'s television station dedicated to esoteric, cult material in the anime, tok...

Shout! Factory has officially announced the release date for Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, the latest in their complete season DVD sets of the Super Sentai franchise, from which Saban's Power Rangers saga was adapted. The 1998 fantasy adventure followed five young heroes from a mystical realm sent to the human world to protect it from the invading Barban Space Pirates. It was adapted shortly thereafter into the star-spanning Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Gingaman is noted for its unusually low-tech approach in contrast to its counterparts in the 1990s, conjuring memories of otherworldly epics like Lord of the Rings and King Arthur. Riding into battle on horseback with mystical sabers, they fought alongside enormous, organic creatures called Seijuu (Star Beasts) that only later were sheathed in...
