Amazon Riders (aka Toei's Kamen Rider Amazons) Season 1 can now be viewed on the Amazon streaming platform. The more adult-leaning take on the long-running kids action series was first available for fans in its native home via Amazon Prime Japan, but has finally made its way across the pond. Everything started with the experimental so-called "Amazon Project" which aimed to grow artificial life forms into humanoids. Two years ago, an accident occurred inside the research facility and four thousand test subjects with a preference for human-derived protein were released into the city. Giant bugs with laser-antennae. Bloodthirsty fiends from the depths of outer space. Titanic robots of unparalleled strength. Godzilla has been victorious in battle with dozens of seemingly unbeatable adversaries. But perhaps none as fierce as the latest threat standing before him. The menace of a broken heart. In this stop-motion comedy piece from Youtube channel MootroidXProductions, the radioactive lizard serves up his scorching heart for the object of his affection and a series of misunderstandings may lead to devastating consequences. Here's the original 2016 video, followed by its 2018 reboot. Because it's not j...

And the drama just keeps unraveling for the crew of the Amazon Japan streaming series, Kamen Rider Amazons, as they rev up for their feature film event. Marking Toei Co's first major foray into live-action special effects television produced primarily for online streaming, Amazons is based upon the decades-long Kamen Rider action franchise, but with a somewhat darker tone than your candy-coated family-friendly adventures of today. If you ask me, it's really just early 2000s Kamen Rider with an extended runtime, but then, I suppose the era where that sort of intense drama, coupled with sometimes violent or risque content, is no longer suitable for Sunday Morning broadcast. So, why not leapfrog that platform altogether and go out with a bang on the biggest screen possible? Kamen Rider A...

Here's a thing. In a grim future, where humanity is at the edge of extinction (because what other futures are there, really?), five brothers set about changing their unenviable fate and a giant robot is born from the ashes of their effort. Thus is the plot of Brave Storm, the reimagined tokusatsu film that merges the mythologies of two special effects drama series, Silver Kamen and Super Robot Red Baron. Still with me? Because I have names and titles, some of which may be of interest to fans of the Kamen Rider and Ultraman franchises. This movie has some deep cuts in the world of toku. Leading the cast is a notable line-up of tokusatsu actors, including Watanabe Shu (Eiji, Kamen Rider OOO) and Yamamoto Chihiro (Laiha, Ultraman Geed). Watanabe is seen in the trailer piloting what looks...
