The battle to save Touto from the fires of war continue on Kamen Rider Build, as genius amnesiac Kiryuu Sento finds he's not the only bug-eyed super-dude without memories running around these days. Last time, Kamen Rider Kiva's Takeda Touhei debuted as the new mystery soldier from neighboring territory Hokuto, leading the charge (in his own lethargic, unmotivated way) into Touto to retrieve the Martian Pandora Box, and the Full Bottles needed to access its immense, unknowable power. Now, he and his three dopey subordinates are ready to butt heads with Sento and Ryuuga to prove their mettle. But first, another recap, as narrated by Sento, though this time we find our sarcastic hero in a surprisingly low-key mood. Recent events have taken the wind out of his sails, but a sudden intrusio...

It's been a wonderful season for tokusatsu. From the colorful, high-flying adventure of Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger to the intense, take-no-prisoners action of Kamen Rider Build, the world of special effects television has rarely been so exciting. And, as we inch closer to the tearful farewell to the spacey super-team of Kyuranger and ramp up toward the introduction of their successors in the upcoming Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger vs Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, here's a small picture gallery to celebrate the era of these Toei Company heroes. This brief sampling comes courtesy of HeroVision, the tokusatsu-themed publication featuring high-quality images of the stars and assorted memorabilia from their fantastical series, as well as original interviews and commentary from the people who bring the...

If you've been following us closely over the past few months, you know we're pretty big fans of Ultraman Orb: The Origin Saga in these parts. The space fantasy prequel to the giant hero series Ultraman Orb first streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime Japan before making its way to terrestrial television and home video. It constitutes for this fan one of the biggest, most exciting offerings from the long-running Ultraman franchise in years and any Ultra nerd who has yet to witness its greatness should rectify this mistake as soon as possible. In the meantime, here's the show's second opening theme song in the original Japanese, followed by the same song in English. Because why the hell not? Those who already know the holy experience that is Ultraman Orb: The Origin Saga may or may not ha...

Kamen River Kiva is making a comeback. As I clutch my pearls at the thought of it already being a decade since this amazing fantasy action series left the airwaves, Kiva's celebrating its tenth anniversary in style. We've already heard of the new Blu-ray set coming to home video, as well as the introduction of fan-favorite actor Takeda Touhei making his recent debut as a mysterious new superpowered figure in the current series Kamen Rider Build. But why stop there? Surely there's some other way to bring honor to the bat-themed hero and his outrageous circle of friends and rivals as we look back on their wacky adventures together? Well, that's where Kamen Rider The Diner comes in. As previously mentioned, Kamen Rider The Diner has been operating in Ikebukuro, Japan since 2011, serving ...

Wake Up! KAMEN RIDER BUILD Episode 17 Shows Us Who’s Boss

It's funny. I started out reviewing Kamen Rider Build under the assumption that, at some point, it would be less necessary to discuss each episode of the series on an individual basis. Like with most entries into the Kamen Rider franchise (to say nothing of its counterparts in Super Sentai), I expected that we'd eventually reach a point where installments would feel less substantial and thus, waiting a while between reviews would make perfect sense. Nope! Kamen Rider Build has consistently flipped the script on our expectations, bringing new and exciting twists on its narrative week after week, leaving very little room for its fans to lose interest as we barrel through toward the finish line. Before the show's brief hiatus, we were left on a cliffhanger that spelled potential doom for...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Sclash Driver & DX Twin Breaker

As is standard now, every Kamen Rider series seems to need at least 2 transformation belts. Kamen Rider Build's second one is the Sclush (Sclash) Driver. This is a much more solid toy than I imagined it'd be but as per usual, being a secondary Driver, it has far fewer sounds and can read far fewer Full Bottles than the DX Build Driver. It basically only reads the Dragon, Robot and Crocodile Fullbottles/Jellys giving them both a henshin sound and a finisher. Other than that, this thing only reads the remaining Fullbottles as "organic" or "inorganic". Surprisingly though, this Driver comes with both Jellys for Cross Charge and Grease (Rogues will be released next month) so for the most part it's a solid single purchase instead of the DX Build Driver that requires more and more Fullbottles ...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Phoenix Robo Full Bottle Set

Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final is the latest installment in the world of Kamen Rider movies. Of course, now that Kamen Rider Build is out, he is our main protagonist, and on top of that, as is standard for these movies, he receives a movie-exclusive form (though it's rumored to perhaps be appearing in the show this month). That form is PheonixRobo, made up of course by the Phoenix and Robot Full Bottles. This set is fairly standard - if you like the gimmick, it continues the trend of being a solid pick up, though this set does do one thing differently. The images on the Full Bottles are not only sculpted in but painted in their respective colors as well making them, aesthetically, the best-looking Full Bottles thus far. I definitely wish all of the Full Bottles had this detail. ...
Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD SODO Figures Wave 4

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD SODO Figures Wave 4

Reviews, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Build's fourth entrance into the SODO toy line is probably its least exciting yet, though still not bad. Set 4 decides to drop the potential RabbitTank Sparkling figure (bumping it to set 5) in favor of Build's bike....... Yay? This leave us with only 2 new Build forms: KaizokuRessha and OctopusLight. In fairness, none of these figures are bad, in fact KaizokuRessha is the most complicated to sticker so far, but the lack of a third form or Rider does leave the wave feeling a bit light for your money. Overall, despite it being Build's weakest wave, it's still miles away from being bad, by any means. All the figures here are solid and the bike, while not personally for me, is very good and show-accurate and looks great when ridden on by Kamen Riders Build or Cross-Z. This line ...

Kamen Rider Build's first major upgrade form is Rabbit Tank Sparkling! The show's toy line celebrates this new form with one of its first deviations from the standard Full Bottle gimmick. This "soda can" functions similarly to the Cross Dragon, having its own lights and sounds that work in tandem with the Build Driver to make its own unique henshin and finisher. The jingle is awesome and the light effects are incredible. This item feels powerful compared to the Full Bottles, and the sounds enhance that feeling. It's also nice to have a unique finishing sound for a change. Overall, this is a must own for anyone who has the DX Build Driver. Its a great toy and a nice change from the standard gimmick, plus it has some interactive functionality with future toys being released (but more on...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Full Bottles – Medal & Friendship, Light & Octopus

Reviews, Toku, toku, Uncategorized, Videos
The Kamen Rider Build TV series is far from done with their collectible toys, the Full Bottles, but rounding it out at number 19 and 20, the last Full Bottles from Touto, we have Octopus and Light. This set is as solid as all the rest. If you like the past Bottles, you'll like these. The sound effects are solid and if you've collected them all then these are a must for filling out your Pandora Panels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gteZfQMgKM8 Meanwhile, Build's toy line releases its third Legend Rider set, Friendship & Medal. This set is designed with half the essence of Kamen Rider Fourze and half of Kamen Rider OOO. This makes it an odd choice come checkout. Unlike the past sets for Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and Kamen Rider W, this set requires the HawkGatling and RocketPanda sets as ...
