As we hit the gong on this drama-filled half-hour, the identity of Night Rogue is finally revealed, an angry Ryuuga goes ape, and a sad panda fights a losing battle in a strange land. It's just another day at the mad scientist's office for Kamen Rider Build, in Episode 7! For those of us still keeping score, this makes seven straight episodes now that Kamen Rider Build has directly affected the main plot of the series and moved us forward at a strong pace. At some point, I may get sick of pointing this out, but today is not that day. I'm still tickled pink at the prospect of a Kamen Rider show with at least 40-something episodes of pure development and very little fat to trim. It's been fivever since I was this engaged, and I don't want the ride to stop. We begin with Ryuuga impati...

2017’s Best Power Rangers Episode Is a Voltron Episode

Voltron: Legendary Defender is back at it, with another burst of hilarity and excitement in the show's fourth season on Netflix. And, as we hunkered down to catch up with the heroic, space-faring Paladins of Voltron and their robotic lions, we were treated to a special episode that some of us in the tokusatsu fandom couldn't help but find a bit familiar. While there are plenty easy comparisons to be made between them and the multi-colored Teenagers With Attitude of the live-action Power Rangers franchise (and their Super Sentai cousins from across the pond), none would be so bold as with this season's striking fourth episode, "The Voltron Show". We're not just throwing shade, folks. We're launching it out of a circus cannon to the tune of a full-scale marching band. And the result, true ...

Kamen Rider Build Episode 6 Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

Fists are flying in this episode of Kamen Rider Build. After a slightly weaker entry for the previous week, we come back as strong as ever with another fantastic installment in this series that continues to rock my socks. Build, where have you been all my life? Returning us to where we left off, Episode 6 begins with Ryuuga continuing to follow Tatsuya, whom he had deliberately re-infected with Smash essence, turning him back into a brainwashed monster. And wouldn't you know it, we've found the bad guys' lair in the sixth freaking episode of this series, continuing Build's trend of taking the rule book and torching it on a pyre of flaming tropes and modern cliches. Good riddance! After Ryuuga finds himself surrounded, Build comes through with a surprising rescue. Despite getting kn...

Ultraman Geed Gets Magnificent, With Two Super-Powered Guest Stars

It's been a minute since our last Ultraman Geed review. Previously, young Ultra hero Riku learned the devastating truth of his parentage and the twisted nature of his existence from the devilish Kei. Still reeling from the news that he's basically a walking action figure for the bad guys to manipulate, we're taken on a trip to discover more about this super-kid's origins, we have a detour through this year's seemingly mandatory mid-season clip show, and arrive at the beginnings of a sweet two-parter for the most under-appreciated bosses of the show. Let's do this. I'm going to title this story arc "My Three Dads". It's basically the tale of three men who all contributed to the birth and raising of Asakura Riku into the young man that he is today, through a strange set of circumsta...
Justice League Comic vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Comic: Who Won The Week?

Justice League Comic vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Comic: Who Won The Week?

This week, I read a fun comic book packed with everything I wanted out of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, from exciting action to cool character moments, and an interesting peek into new corners of the universe sure to keep me coming back for more. And then I read the Justice League crossover. To say that these two titles, each with our color-coded Teenagers With Attitude in common, are on opposite ends of the fun spectrum for me would be an understatement. The title of this review suggests a decision must be made about which of the two comic stories rose up to take the crown for this week's best. But let's be honest. Though Justice League / Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #6 has its fans, sending it into the ring with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #19 is a TKO waiting to happen. With sticks o...

Power Rangers Dino Super Charge Vol. 2

Saban Brands and Lionsgate Home Entertainment sponsors today's review on the upcoming release of Power Rangers Dino Super Charge Vol. 2 Extinction. This two-disc set will release next Tuesday, March 7th, via Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The set consists of the final ten episodes of Dino Super Charge; which concludes our story that spanned two seasons. Now, while the series is adaptation of Toei’s Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, the finale for Dino Super Charge features significant changes. However, I will talk more about those changes later in the review. The first thing I need to talk about is the physical content such as packaging, and the artwork!   Volume 2 Extinction features incredible artwork, much like any other Power Rangers release from Lionsgate. I overly enjoy seeing the R...

Saban Brands and Lionsgate Home Entertainment sponsors today's review on the upcoming release of Power Rangers Dino Charge: The Complete Season. This DVD box set will release ironically on Tuesday, February 7th, via Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Power Rangers Dino Charge is one half of the previous installment in the Power Rangers series, with Dino Super Charge as its immediate sequel. The two are adaptations of Toei’s Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. Dino Charge aired on Nickelodeon from February 7th, 2015 to December 10th, 2015. Most noteworthy, about Power Rangers Dino Charge is it is the first of many seasons with the returning, Judd “Chip” Lynn as executive producer.   Starting with the case, the artwork is incredible and I love the holographic cover. The interior consists of ...
