I was determined not to come back with another Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger review that talked predominately about lead character Lucky, but it seems my fate was written in the constellations. This show, about a team of futuristic space trekkers boldly going up against the Jark Matter Empire, quickly became a new favorite for me, winning me over with its adventurous theme, great characters, and fun ideas. To this day, my feelings in that regard have not changed. Though I suppose I've squished those sentiments into a tiny side pocket now that the show has so aggressively pursued one of Super Sentai's worst habits: Putting an inordinate amount of attention onto the dude in red. The luckiest liberator in the whole wide universe is not only the unofficially official leader of this enormous team...

Shout! Factory has officially announced the release date for Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, the latest in their complete season DVD sets of the Super Sentai franchise, from which Saban's Power Rangers saga was adapted. The 1998 fantasy adventure followed five young heroes from a mystical realm sent to the human world to protect it from the invading Barban Space Pirates. It was adapted shortly thereafter into the star-spanning Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. Gingaman is noted for its unusually low-tech approach in contrast to its counterparts in the 1990s, conjuring memories of otherworldly epics like Lord of the Rings and King Arthur. Riding into battle on horseback with mystical sabers, they fought alongside enormous, organic creatures called Seijuu (Star Beasts) that only later were sheathed in...

Pre-orders for both items have now opened up at online retailers with the intended release for March 2018. However, Super Mini-Pla Live Boxer is P-Bandai exclusive, which means it harder to obtain and higher in price. Below are image galleries for both mechas:   Super Mini-Pla Liverobo Super Mini-Pla Live Boxer   For those who have not seen, Choujuu Sentai Liveman is the 12th installment in the Super Sentai series. Dynaman English Dub: Three New Episodes Go Dyna-mite From Night Flight

Those of you looking to get more of that Dynaman goodness from last month are in for a treat. The 1986 classic parody dub of Japan's Kagaku Sentai Dynaman is back with more episodes to stream from original distributors Night Flight. As previously reported, Dynaman, in all its wacky glory, was one of America's first official glimpses into the world of Super Sentai, years before the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers would take households by storm in the 90s. Originally, the niche streaming service Night Flight Plus had only offered three episodes to watch, but now they've doubled that digit for more color-coded explosions to sate your appetite for tokusatsu's early English-language oddities. Whether one chooses to watch them with an earnest appeal, as an anthropological look at the special e...

Infini-T Force: When Worlds Collide – The Journey So Far

When the lead heroes of four of Tatsunoko Productions' most beloved anime series are plucked from their separate stories and thrown into the CG animated blender that is Infini-T Force, the result is a surprisingly sensitive, character-focused musing on life, which just happens to have a truckload of explosions. Having been fed a steady diet of the shake-and-bake battle marathons of the tokusatsu subgenre, where some crossovers are more about how many collectible toys can be mixed and matched between the characters than how any of their lives may be affected by it all, this was a refreshing ride. That's not to ignore the many times heroes of Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman and the like gather up from their respective continuities and tear up the battlefield. Indeed, many of those a...

As reported last week, Hyper RPG has begun its new streaming series Power Rangers Hyperforce, the live tabletop RPG show, courtesy of Twitch. Continuing with their releases of each episode recording, the show's second episode has dropped. And hopefully, you've still got a bit of the Halloween spirit left in you, because Hyperforce definitely does. The costumes are out in full force for this 2.5-hour episode, including a pretty spiffy samurai outfit for Power Rangers star Paul Schrier, whose list of credits in the franchise is as long as a Chrono Saber, not limited to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, Power Rangers in Space, and of course, Power Rangers Samurai. In all that time, he's never quite known what it's like to be a Ranger himself, though...

Last week, Hyper RPG hosted the new Twitch streaming series Power Rangers Hyperforce, a live tabletop role-playing game experience based upon the Power Rangers brand. If you missed out, don't worry, you're not alone. Hyper RPG's got your back, with a handy recording of all of the proceedings from their premiere episode, the first of 25 planned installments in this streaming project. As mentioned previously, the first episode featured the return of Erin Cahill, known to many fans as Jen Scotts, the Pink Ranger from 2001's Power Rangers Time Force. She brings her personal brand of awesome to the proceedings as this new team of heroes treads ground no others before them have. The arena of interactive RPGs. https://youtu.be/4X0CxlxoagY Though it may not be everyone's cup of tea, and som...

Power Rangers: The All-Time Best Villains

The Power Rangers are no strangers to the world of villainy, each week facing off against a fresh adversary with dark intentions, typically under the direction of a sinister overlord with a master plan just waiting to be foiled by those pesky, multi-colored younglings in spandex. As Halloween has now come upon us, what better time to talk about monsters than on the week we'll likely have seen more of them than any other? We're here to talk about bad guys. Ranking the best (or worst, if you prefer) enemies our costumed heroes have encountered in their decades-spanning adventures. And for the purposes of this handy list, we'll define "best" in general terms. We're not necessarily talking about who's the strongest physically or who can rack up the most experience points against their sup...

Fortune Sentai Luckyranger or How I Met Your Messiah: A Kyuranger Review

Well, here we are for another Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger review. And while I'm still very much enjoying this spacey super-team series, I have to be honest and say that I'm a little disappointed with one key factor. You guessed it, kids. It starts with "luck" and ends with "eeee" . The sad thing is that I'm actually not someone who dislikes Lucky, our strange and often shouty de facto leader of this band of galactic liberators. When others complained that he was too in-your-face, I shrugged indifferently, having enjoyed his part in this wacky ensemble of futuristic alien saviors bent on defeating the oppressive Jark Matter organization. Of course, this was back when the show was just getting started, and the new car smell had yet to wear off. Every sight and sound was fresh, and there was ...

Here's what's happening on the next episode of Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger, Space 36: The Legend That Sleeps Within Lucky's Homeworld. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-enpb4ikC0 "Don Armage was secretly possessing Hoshi Minato! The Kyurangers are greatly surprised by this fact. However, it is true that the Don Armage they defeated wasn’t as strong as they thought he would be. So is it really possible that there is more than just one Don Armage in the universe? To find out, the Kyurangers make their way towards Planet Southern Cross. Meanwhile, the Kyurangers receive an urgent transmission from the Leo Minor System, Planet Ruth. Yes, Ruth, the planet where Lucky was raised. They were also able to hear cries of living creatures within the transmission as well. Lucky suddenly hears the voic...
