Since 1993, Saban has dazzled children and parents alike with the exploits of the spandex-clad heroes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and their many, many offshoots which have stretched their reign of dominance over toy aisles and screens across the entertainment landscape. But, for almost as long, we've heard murmurs of discontent about the state of the company that largely shepherded this beloved franchise to prominence. We've often wondered what it was that made this show tick behind the scenes, and why certain creative decisions may have been made in the last few years, which saw a sharp decline in audience reception, ironically a short time after the newly-christened Saban Brands retook the Power Rangers intellectual property from temporary rights-holders Disney. That was 2010. S...

Let's talk toys. Specifically, Bandai's S.H.Figuarts Shinkoucchou Seihou line, and five items that I think should be added to the list of new and upcoming pieces. It's a good old-fashioned Top 5 list! Hosting this segment is our contributor, TaJa Doyle, an avid collector and reviewer for Tamashii Nations’ products. One can check out his reviews over on his YouTube Channel, Wheelchair21. This list will consist of Toei productions, and characters we want to see join the high-end Shinkocchou Seihou series. The line is known for perfectly capturing the likeness of the combat suits as seen on screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L1w-3xLQWY 5. Kamen Rider Build appears to be Rider Kicking butt on the sales charts, if Toys R Us' figures are any indication. The toy vendor juggernaut recently held a poll with shoppers asking them to vote on their favorite items available at their local store, and the results are in. Which Rider item crushed the competition, driving through to the top spot? Was it the HawkGatlinger, Sento's rapid-fire weapon of choice when he wants to deliver some righteous gunkata moves on fleets of robotic adversaries? Or maybe the Transteam Blade proved a cut above the rest, used by the nefarious Night Rogue and his on-again/off-again partner in crime Blood Stalk? Nah, let's go with something a bit more classic. LiveDoor had these results to share, revealing the three most beloved pieces in the Toys R Us cat...

In news that prompted a collective sigh of relief across the worldwide fan community this week, Tsuburaya Productions scored a major victory in its ongoing legal conflict with Thai company Chaiyo Productions as a jury ruled against Chaiyo collaborator UM Corporation over licensing rights to the popular Ultraman superhero franchise. A ruling years in the making, this marks one of several instances in an escalating battle the Ultraman creators and sole original owners at Tsuburaya have been fighting for decades, dating as far back as 1996. As previously stated, Chaiyo Productions head Sompote Saengduenchai claimed a relative of Ultraman creator Eiji Tsuburaya had signed a legal document bestowing licensing rights for the Ultra brand beyond Japanese shores to him, though this was widely ...

Looks like Kamen Rider Den-O's not the only one who starts on a climax. The toy lords of Premium Bandai have gifted us a mighty prize in this new, prestigious depiction of the towering lizard from 2016's smash hit Shin Godzilla, as shown in the exciting final act of the film. In which, the famous King of Monsters is seen firing his atomic beam, for this film given a distinct, purple glow, with an unnerving, elongated jaw. Check him out. Comparing the size of this item with the previously released Movie Monster Series Godzilla, Kaiju-Oh reaches nearly 11 inches in height, almost twice the size of the figure from its sister line. Wreaking giant-sized havoc in March 2018, the Kaiju-Oh 2016 Godzilla Climax Ver. is available now for pre-order and is priced at 7,560 yen.

At last, his magnificence is upon us. Like a bat out of Faust's evil underground lair, the villainous Night Rogue emerges from the Kamen Rider Build television series, finally getting his shine with this S.H. Figuarts item from toy godsend Bandai Tamashii Nations.   Recently revealed as Himuro Gentoku, the duplicitous son of the Touto Prime Minister, Night Rogue acts as a leading member of the shadow organization Faust, conducting dangerous experiments on human subjects. And, in keeping with classic Kamen Rider tradition, as a key antagonist of the show, his theme is that of the bat. With a pose that screams "come at me, bro", this bad mamma-jamma is armed with his Steam Blade and Transteam Gun. These weapons combine to form the Steam Rifle. And did I mention the steam?...

2017 has been a banner year for the Power Rangers brand. With a line of successful comics from Boom! Studios, a new web-based RPG series debuting this week, the television branch still trucking after all these years, and a whole slew of merchandise waiting to be scooped up by Ranger fans young and old, the franchise would appear to be firing on all cylinders. Unless, of course, you have a glance at Saban's Power Rangers, the Lionsgate film that released in theaters earlier this year to mixed reactions. While many of us loved the Rangers' latest cinematic offering, there may be some who see this particular branch of the franchise as one that can be cut off at the base. Trademarkia lists the logo for Saban's Power Rangers as abandoned by original owners SCG Power Rangers LLC. Which woul...
