At the core of Otakon, there’s sound. In this episode of R5 Central, we take a look at the musical side of Otakon. Complete with a feature with the up and coming band, Geist, the AAA Press Conference, and Mike trying to learn how to rock turntables…Saving the best for last, aren’t we?

AND!

This Week:
Friday Night at Otakon, there was gathering made of such sheer awesomeness that it made people’s eyes explode and caused people to be caught in a Kazuo Koike-ish dream like trance. Yes I’m referring to the Podcaster’s Roundtable featuring Erin and Noah from Ninja Consultants, Gerald from Anime World Order, Rym and Scott from GeekNights, Dave and Joel from Fast Karate for the Gentleman, Tyler from Rangercast-*takes breath* and yours truly.

Phew! And just in time for the forthcoming second anniversary of R5 Central. Take care!

Otakon Graffiti Begins…

3 08 2007

Thanks to fate, the promptings of Tyler from Rangercast and the chance to meet Ryuhei Kitamura, Mike travels to Baltimore to attend Otakon 2007. In this installment, an Industry News Recap, an interview with famed seiyuu Tomokazu Seki and a glimpse into the madness that was the Otakon Gundam Panel.

AND!
Due to confusion and chaos, Mike failed to get an interview with Ryuhei Kitamura (Although he did end up in an elevator with him). However, as a consolation, Mike did manage to get the Saturday Q and A session with the man himself. Here we hear about “Midnight Meat Train”, the future of “Versus” and how he feels about “Versus 2″-I mean “Death Trance”.
Otakon Graffiti 2.0 is on its way, stay tuned.

His voice shot, his feet tired of running, Mike has survived to Sunday morning. Here he will make his last stand, attempting to get one more interview with the authors of Applegeeks (only to fail miserably come time for post production…) and fate will have both he and Keith cross paths with Keri Wahlgren.

Will “Team Justice” have a happy ending? Will Mike survive the trip back to Milwaukee? Is happiness possible without sacrifice? Did anybody catch that Giant Robo reference just now aside from Daryl Surat? Find out for yourself in the final episode of the Epic ACEN Trilogy!!

AND!

This Week:
Amidst the chaos at ACEN Saturday, R5 Central still manages to bring you the full press conference featuring the Spiral Spiders, the band that single handedly outdid the HMC concert. Well in the opinion of two people anyways…

Take care all!

The ACEN Trilogy BEGINS!

24 06 2007
This Week:
After a devastating final battle with Gestalt, Mike finds himself in the past once more. However he’s just in time for Anime Central 2007. Will he be able to pull himself together in time to cover the con?!
AND!
This Week:
A bonus supplement for Part 1 of the Epic ACEN Trilogy. Here’s the full MAD House panel from Friday night featuring Yuko Minaguchi, Hiroshi Kojina, and Sunao Katabuchi. Excuse the quality, I was in third row and was sitting next to an idiot who kept kicking the seat that I was using to brace the mic with. Nevertheless, this provides an insightful look into the inner workings of this legendary studio of studios.

And there you have it folks! Expect the next episodes hopefully before my exodus to Otakon. Take care all!
