First Look at the New Space Sheriff Gavan

The first look at the character taking over as the new Space Sheriff Gavan, ahead of the character’s October movie debut, revealed the role going to 30-year-old actor Yuma Ishigaki, known for the Azumi films and the Hana Kimi television series. Gavan’s profile had risen with a new generation of fans following the earlier crossover film Gokaiger vs. Gavan. The new film was set to be directed by Osamu Kaneda, whose earlier credits include Let’s Go Kamen Rider and Super Sentai vs. Kamen Rider: Superhero Wars, with a script by Yuji Kobayashi, who previously wrote for Ultraman Max and Gekiranger.

Rumors that a younger actor would take over the role had left open the question of what would happen to original Gavan actor Kenji Ohba; the announcement confirmed Ohba would be passing the role on to the new, as-yet-unknown character. The film was scheduled to premiere in cinemas on October 20 of that year.
