SASURAIDO: A New Tokusatsu Production

Earlier in the year, a fundraising event for tsunami victims, the Hello Hero Project, was organized by Omocharity and attended by numerous tokusatsu alumni, including Teruaki Ogawa, known for playing Ninja Red in Kakuranger. Discussions from that event led to a new project, SASURAIDO, which surfaced with its own website. The site did not disclose what the project actually was, but listed a staff and cast that included several recognizable names.

The cast included Shouta Minami, who played Rei in Ultra Galaxy; Kyota Tsuji; Kayoko Shibata, who played Go Pink in GoGoV; Tomokazu Seki, who had recently served as narrator for Gokaiger; Takashi Matsuyama; and Teruaki Ogawa himself, starring as a character named Nagare. On the crew side, Ryuta Tasaki, a director with a long history on Kamen Rider productions, was attached, along with action director Hirokazu Iwakami, known for work on early Power Rangers seasons with BOS Action Unity, writer Atsuhiro Tomioka (Samurai 7, Pokemon), and composer Toshiyuki Momose (Final Fantasy Tactics, the Parasite Eve series). Footage from a stage show tied to the reveal, along with additional photos, was also made available on the project’s website.
