Keiko Matsuzaka on Playing Judam in Garo: Red Requiem's Promised Land

Garo: Dragon of the Blue Cry had its first screening at the Tokyo International Film Festival, with the film’s stars walking the green carpet alongside director Keita Amiyama. Among them was actress Keiko Matsuzaka, who plays the movie’s villain.

Matsuzaka, a well-known Japanese actress with a film and television career spanning more than 40 years, plays the evil Judam, queen of the Promised Land through which protagonist Kouga journeys. She described Judam as a brutally evil character carrying the innocence of a little girl. Matsuzaka said she enjoyed filming the action scenes, and that despite celebrating her sixtieth birthday that year, she took on wirework for the first time and found it a challenge.

The film was set for public release throughout Tokyo the following February.
