Kyoryuger Character Names Confirmed, Spelling Out a Dinosaur Pun

Following the cast reveal for Juuden Sentai Kyoryuger, the team’s full character names were confirmed in early January 2013, along with a piece of wordplay buried in the roster: Kyoryu Red is Daigo Kiryuu, Kyoryu Black is Ian Yorkland, Kyoryu Blue is Nobuharu Udou, Kyoryu Green is Souji Rippukan, and Kyoryu Pink is Amy Yuzuki.

Read in sequence, the first parts of the five given names spell out “Di-no-so-a” (dinosaur), while the corresponding parts of their surnames spell “Kyo-u-ryu,” the Japanese word for dinosaur.
