Miura Ryosuke Joins Rurouni Kenshin Live-Action Sequel Cast

Kamen Rider OOO actor Miura Ryosuke was announced as one of the new cast members for the upcoming two-part live-action Rurouni Kenshin sequel, cast as the swordsman Sawagejo Cho.

The sequel, adapting the Kyoto Arc of the original manga across two films titled Kyoto Taika Hen (The Great Kyoto Fire) and Densetsu no Saigo Hen (The Final Moments of a Legend), centers on the conflict between protagonist Himura Kenshin and antagonist Shishio Makoto, and was set to premiere in summer 2014.

Additional casting announced alongside Miura included Fujiwara Tatsuya as Shishio Makoto, Iseya Yusuke as Shinomori Aoshi, and Kamiki Ryunosuke as Seta Sojiro. Oyagi Kaito was cast as Myojin Yahiko, replacing Tanaka Taketo from the original film; Tanaka Min was cast as Kashiwazaki Nenji, Takahashi Maryjun as Komagata Yumi, and Kazufumi Miyazawa as Okubo Toshimichi. Ozawa Yukiyoshi was cast as Meiji-era prime minister Ito Hirobumi, a historical figure added to the story as a new role not present in the original series. Sato Takeru, Takei Emi, Aoi Yu, Munetaka Aoki, and Eguchi Yosuke were all confirmed to reprise their roles as Kenshin, Kaoru, Megumi, Sanosuke, and Saito respectively.
