Models Joy and Atsushi Cast in The Fateful Sengoku Movie Battle

Two Japanese fashion models joined the cast of Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Gaim & Wizard: The Fateful Sengoku Movie Battle ahead of its December 2013 release. Atsushi took the role of the human form of the Ogre Phantom, the film’s antagonist, while Joy, making his first film appearance, played an alternate-history version of the historical figure Ieyasu Tokugawa, reimagined here in decidedly modern attire, down to a T-shirt and boxers.

Joy described nerves at portraying a real historical figure for his screen debut, but said the cast and crew quickly put him at ease; he added that he hoped younger viewers unfamiliar with Ieyasu’s history might think of the character when they later encountered the name in school. Atsushi, a self-described Kamen Rider fan, said he relished the chance to play an out-and-out villain the audience would love to hate. The film was written by Junko Komura and Nobuhiro Mouri.
