First Look at Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger's Costumes and Train-Themed Gear

The thirty-eighth season of Super Sentai, Ressha Sentai Tokkyuger, got its first costume and toy reveal in December 2013 ahead of its February 16, 2014 premiere. Built around a train motif, the five-member team, numbered rather than color-named as Tokkyu Ichigo through Gogo, transforms using wrist-mounted Tokkyuchangers paired with individual Ressha trains, with the transformation device voiced like a train-station announcer riffing on the familiar “please stand clear of the closing doors” line.

The reveal’s biggest surprise was a color-swapping gimmick: Tokkyu Ichigo, normally red, could become Tokkyu Ichigo Green by combining with a different Ressha, a mechanic reflected in toy figures that let owners swap numbers to match. The five Resshas combine into the giant robot Tokkyu-oh, standing 275mm tall in toy form with a combined train length over 1.2 meters, while the team’s shared Tokkyu Blaster switches between a shooting mode and a slashing sword mode. Each Ranger also carries an individual weapon (Ichigo’s Rail Slasher, Nigo’s Home Trigger, Sango’s Shingo Hammer, Yongo’s Tunnel Axe, and Gogo’s Tekkyou Claw) which combine into the Rentetsu Bazooka. The toy line’s first wave released February 1, 2014, with a second wave of interchangeable train arms following that March.
