Cardfight!! Vanguard Movie on the Way

Bushiroad’s trading card game Cardfight!! Vanguard, already adapted into a successful anime and a live-action TV special starring Daigo of the J-rock band Breakerz, was reported to be expanding into a theatrical double feature tentatively scheduled for fall 2014. The live-action portion was set to star Daigo alongside Mimori Suzuko, known for voicing Kourin Tatsunagi in the anime and Sherlock Shellingford in Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, with several others cast in supporting roles. Ace Crew Entertainment was filming the live-action segment, with OLM producing and Motoki Takashi, who had directed the earlier live-action drama Stand Up! Vanguard, returning as well.

The anime portion was to be directed by Shin Itagaki and written by Mayori Sekijima, whose earlier credits included Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, Phi Brain: Puzzle of God, and Angel Sanctuary, along with a video companion to Final Fantasy V. Tsubasa Yonaga, Takuya Sato, and Izumi Kitta were set to reprise their TV roles as Aichi, Kai, and Misaki. The screenplay came from Ultra Super Pictures, previously involved with Black Rock Shooter and Kill la Kill. A teaser site went up showing early looks at Aichi, Kai, and Daigo for the film.
