Attack on Titan Live-Action Cast Revealed, Including Kamen Rider OOO's Shu Watanabe and Go-Busters' Ayame Misaki

A complete cast listing for the two-part live-action Attack on Titan film was revealed, including two tokusatsu alumni: Shu Watanabe of Kamen Rider OOO and Ayame Misaki of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. Specific character assignments for the wider cast had not yet been disclosed at the time.

Haruma Miura, known for playing Shota Kazehaya in the live-action Kimi ni Todoke, was announced as the film’s lead, widely expected to play Eren. Manga creator Hajime Isayama was confirmed to be supervising new story and character material created for the adaptation. Shinji Higuchi, a former Gainax member who contributed to Evangelion, served as special effects director on the 1990s Gamera trilogy and directed the 2006 version of The Sinking of Japan, was attached as director. Yusuke Watanabe, known for the live-action Gantz and 20th Century Boys and for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, was set to script the film alongside critic and subculture writer Tomohiro Machiyama. The two-part film series was planned for a summer 2015 release.
