Artists in Tokusatsu: Hand-Made Henshin Love

A roundup of independent artists and crafters working in tokusatsu fandom highlighted several creators making fan-made merchandise outside official licensed lines.

Among them was “Made By Midge,” a crochet and amigurumi maker active on Facebook, whose pieces included a Godzilla amigurumi. The piece also featured print artist Greg Wright, whose Society6 shop offered a range of kaiju- and pop-culture-themed prints, sold framed or unframed, spanning subjects from Godzilla to other franchises. Also featured was Unicorn Empire Prints, an Etsy shop whose offerings included a Gipsy Danger (Pacific Rim) T-shirt design incorporating several of the giant robot’s kaiju opponents.

The piece closed by inviting readers to share other tokusatsu-inspired artists, shop owners, and designers ahead of the holiday season.
