Kamen Rider Evolt has appeared in the last act of the Kamen Rider Build TV series, and of course a new Rider means new gear, so lets take a look at it all.
First up, we have the DX Evol Driver, basically a repaint of the DX Build Driver, but with new sounds and a few fresh parts. All of the unique sound effects are fantastic and a vast improvement on the old Driver toy. It’s able to read every single collectible Full Bottle too (as seen in the second video), though it does read them differently than the DX Build Driver, so that keeps things fresh. The set comes with our first two Evol Bottles, Cobra and Rider System. With these, you’re able to make Evol’s base form. The form gives you a henshin jingle and finishing attack, the Evol Finish. Any non-Best Match gives you the Evol Attack sound effect and any Full Bottle can be combined with the Rider System to make that Full Bottle’s corresponding finisher.
However, certain Full Bottles actually create Best Matches, here called “Evolution”, with the Rider System. Two of those Bottles are the Dragon and Rabbit Evol Bottles. Together, this set doesn’t do much but, with the Rider System Bottle, you can now create Evol’s Rabbit and Dragon forms, respectively. Not too much has changed here, the henshin jingles are similar but different and the finishing attacks are identical.
Lastly, we have the Bat Engine set, aka Kamen Rider Mad Rogue’s bottles. This is where things get disappointing. The Evol Driver and Evol Bottle Set basically gave us old bottles with a new look that are read differently in each Driver. Here, with Bat and Engine, the sounds are really underwhelming. The DX Evol Drive treats them as any other Full Bottle set, it doesn’t treat them special like Evol Rabbit and Dragon.
