Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER YUDO Figures (Wave 1)

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER YUDO Figures (Wave 1)

Reviews, Super Sentai, Toku, Toys
Well, last time we looked at the YUDO toy line, my opinion wasn't too positive. This time around, I'm happy to say that YUDO learned from its mistakes with Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger and made the Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger figures much better. SODO still does it the best, in my opinion, but this round of figures is leagues better than the last one. This set consists of 6 figures in 7 boxes, one for each ranger and one box for the accessories. So be warned, without the accessory box, your figures will not come with a single weapon or any additional pieces. The figures themselves are pretty solid. They feel slightly cheaper than SODO figures, but that makes sense since you are getting twice as many figures per wave for the same price and each figure is in its own...

The Bright-ish Future of POWER RANGERS

The Power Rangers franchise surely isn't messing around this year, is it? I can't walk three steps without tripping over some new announcement concerning the spandex-clad heroes that have filled my imagination since the early 1990s with adventure and charm. No sooner than I've let it sink in that Saban Brands has broken up with its longtime collaborator in the toy world, Bandai America, over their joint custodianship of Power Rangers, my brain is further scrambled by the news that toy company Hasbro is about to pick up the slack. Shortly after, we hear that not only will they be continuing to provide toys and merchandise for this enduring media franchise, but they'll just go ahead and take that media part too. Goodness me, what is a fan to make of all these rapid changes?! If I were t...

For those unaware, the film is the third installment in a series of movies Toei Animation produced to celebrate Digimon Adventure's 15th anniversary. It was the first in the Digimon anime franchise, and was immediately followed by Digimon Adventure 02 in 2000. Saban Brands originally distributed and dubbed the series in English for North America as apart of the Fox Kids television block. Digimon Adventure tri. began with Chapter 1 - Reunion in Fall 2015, and was followed by Chapter 2 - Determination in Spring 2016. Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD S.H.Figuarts Night Rogue

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD S.H.Figuarts Night Rogue

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Build has been lucky enough to have 2 regular SH Figuarts releases, with a 3rd to come in June. Here we have Night Rogue, the first major antagonist of the series. Holy crap, this figure is beautiful. Build was a good figure but his design is very simple. In contrast, Night Rogue is complex and far more intricate. The detailing is just superb and the articulation  doesn't suffer one bit for any of that. The paint is on point too, he even has glowing yellow eyes that can be seen under his bat visor when you look closely. The accessories are great as well. He comes with the Transtream Gun and Steam Blade, both are accurate to the show and look great on their own but can even combine into the rifle mode for an even cooler look. At the end of the day, I have absolutely zero negat

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD SODO Figures Wave 8

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys, Uncategorized
Kamen Rider Build's 8th SODO toy line entry comes with a little surprise. First off, as expected, we have RabbitRabbit and TankTank forms. These are great figures and use the same gimmick we've seen throughout the Build line. Even though it's not show-accurate, you can create a "Super" RabbitTank form, if you will. Articulation, detail, and stickers are all standard and these guys just look fantastic on the shelf. The twist, however, is that this time around, we get 2 new figures from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid's Another Ending movies. These figures are Kamen Rider Genmu Level Billion and Kamen Rider Lazer Level X. For me, these are brand new figures, but for those of you who were into SODO during Ex-Aid's run, you'll recognize these as repaints/re-stickered versions of Ex-Aid Level 99 and La...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX KirinCyclone, PenguinSkater, HachiMarine, SaiDryer, & SameBike Full Bottle Sets

Blog, Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys, Uncategorized
Kamen Rider Build continues to release some of its last DX Full Bottle toy sets and here we have the latest 4 standard pairings, along with a special one. In release order, we have the DX KirinCyclone set, DX PenguinSkater set, DX HachiMarine set, and DX SaiDryer set. These 4 are regular release items for your standard Full Bottle price and functionality. The forms shown range from ones we've seen in action, to Ganbarising exclusive, to unknown. Overall, if you like the form or the jingle, I recommend these DX sets. Our last set, however, is a unique one - the DX SameBike set. This item comes with a DVD copy of Kamen Rider Build: Raising the Hazard Level 7 Best Matches. This is unfortunate because the DVD drives the price up to around 5 times that of a standard Full Bottle set, but the a...
Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER DX Scissors & Blade Dial Fighters, DX Hammer Dial Fighter

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER DX Scissors & Blade Dial Fighters, DX Hammer Dial Fighter

Reviews, Super Sentai, Toku, Toys
After both teams in Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger simultaneously received new VS Vehicles last month, now the Lupinrangers get the solo spotlight with the new DX  Scissors and Blade Dial Fighter. This is a fantastic set. Both the Scissors and Blade Dial Fighters are 100% unique and each function together or independently. They both have unique summoning sounds, lock combinations, and gun shot sounds. This set is basically 2 Dial Fighters in one. The "Kaitou Boost" gives the user the massive shield and boomerang in the show, but here, you get snipping sounds for Scissors and metal clashing sounds for Blade. On their own, they each have their own individual "attack modes" with Blade just turning into its sword form and Scissors unfolding its undercarriage to reveal
Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Cross-Z Magma Knuckle

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Cross gets his next and final upgrade form in the Kamen Rider Build TV series with this device, the DX Magma Knuckle. The Knuckle itself functions very similarly to the DX Cross Dragon, requiring the insertion of a Full Bottle and all. The toy comes with the DX Dragon Magma Full Bottle, though it's missing the insert piece that allows for the shaking gimmick and it reads as simply "Dragon" in all other Build toys. The knuckle itself is a fantastic size, fitting even a large adult hand. It has a button on the front that can be pressed or held down to make fire sound effects and, when a bottle is inserted, the sounds change to the "Volcanic Knuckle" attack. That's about it for the toy on its own. For the next step, we'll need to add the DX Build Driver. Inserting the Knuckle in...
Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD SODO Figures Wave 7

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD SODO Figures Wave 7

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys, Uncategorized
Kamen Rider Build's SODO toy line continues to deliver with wave 7. This wave consists of Kamen Rider Build SmartPhoneWolf form, Kamen Rider Rogue and a third figure of your choosing. The last figure comes with enough pieces to create Engine Bro, Remocon Bro, or Hell Bros form. All these figures are very well done, as you'd expect from SODO, and they come with a fair amount of paint, especially the Hell Bros. I highly recommend getting a case rather than a set for this wave, so that you can have both Bros in your collection. Overall, this is another great wave, and I look forward to more from the SODO line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWIcEWtxQjs&feature=youtu.be   You might also like: Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER BUILD DX Full Full Rabbit Tank Bottle & DX Full Bottle B...
Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER’s DX Cyclone Dial Fighter & DX Trigger Machine Biker

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER’s DX Cyclone Dial Fighter & DX Trigger Machine Biker

Reviews, Super Sentai, Toku, Toys, Uncategorized
Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger has proven to be an excellent Super Sentai series, but its toy-line... Well, it's hit and miss. Today, we have the DX Cyclone Dial Fighter and the DX Trigger Machine Biker to talk about. And, while the Biker is clearly better than the Cyclone, neither are too amazing. The Cyclone Dial Fighter is the first upgrade item for the Lupinrangers. As a helicopter, it's pretty cool, mostly green with a unique aesthetic to it. I really like it in this mode. The dial opens up the propeller blades and, well, this is where the toy falls apart. As an "arm", if you can even call it that at this point, it looks awful. Now, in fairness, it's show accurate but it just looks like a broken helicopter attached to a robot. Thankfully, the sounds and in...
