Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER DX Trigger Machine Crane & Drill

After the phantom thieves of Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger got their two-piece VS Vehicle last month, now it's the cops' turn. The DX Trigger Machine Crane and Drill functions similarly to the DX Scissors and Blade Dial Fighter. They are two separate VS Vehicles that can combine (I use that word loosely) into one solid vehicle. They function with the DX VS Changer together or individually, and they combine with PatKaiser to make PatKaiser Strong. In the DX VS Changer, you get Keisatsu Boost sounds for the two separately and summoning sounds for the two together. As I've said in past videos, I absolutely love the functionally of the VS Vehicles in the Changer, and this set is no exception. However, I've also stated that the mecha this season aren't really my th...

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER YUDO Figures (Wave 1)

Well, last time we looked at the YUDO toy line, my opinion wasn't too positive. This time around, I'm happy to say that YUDO learned from its mistakes with Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger and made the Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger figures much better. SODO still does it the best, in my opinion, but this round of figures is leagues better than the last one. This set consists of 6 figures in 7 boxes, one for each ranger and one box for the accessories. So be warned, without the accessory box, your figures will not come with a single weapon or any additional pieces. The figures themselves are pretty solid. They feel slightly cheaper than SODO figures, but that makes sense since you are getting twice as many figures per wave for the same price and each figure is in its own...

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER DX Scissors & Blade Dial Fighters, DX Hammer Dial Fighter

After both teams in Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger simultaneously received new VS Vehicles last month, now the Lupinrangers get the solo spotlight with the new DX  Scissors and Blade Dial Fighter. This is a fantastic set. Both the Scissors and Blade Dial Fighters are 100% unique and each function together or independently. They both have unique summoning sounds, lock combinations, and gun shot sounds. This set is basically 2 Dial Fighters in one. The "Kaitou Boost" gives the user the massive shield and boomerang in the show, but here, you get snipping sounds for Scissors and metal clashing sounds for Blade. On their own, they each have their own individual "attack modes" with Blade just turning into its sword form and Scissors unfolding its undercarriage to reveal

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER’s DX Cyclone Dial Fighter & DX Trigger Machine Biker

Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger has proven to be an excellent Super Sentai series, but its toy-line... Well, it's hit and miss. Today, we have the DX Cyclone Dial Fighter and the DX Trigger Machine Biker to talk about. And, while the Biker is clearly better than the Cyclone, neither are too amazing. The Cyclone Dial Fighter is the first upgrade item for the Lupinrangers. As a helicopter, it's pretty cool, mostly green with a unique aesthetic to it. I really like it in this mode. The dial opens up the propeller blades and, well, this is where the toy falls apart. As an "arm", if you can even call it that at this point, it looks awful. Now, in fairness, it's show accurate but it just looks like a broken helicopter attached to a robot. Thankfully, the sounds and in...

Toy Reviews: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER DX Good Striker & Candy Toy (Mini Pla) LupinKaiser Set 01

A month after Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger's first round of toys released, we now get the final missing piece to the wave 1 merchandise: Good Striker. DX Good Striker is a big and bulky mecha with 2 "modes" and 4 various functions. The first mode is his Dial Fighter form, where he more closely resembles one of the Lupinranger's mecha and, through some very simple and not-so-creative motions, he can assume his Trigger Machine form to more closely resemble the Patranger's mecha. Honestly, I think most people would agree Good Striker was really only meant to be an aerial vehicle. It's the mode he looks the best in and his car mode is a stretch at best, though I do admit the slight changes do make him fit in better with the respective teams. Good Striker also ...

Toy Review: LUPINRANGER VS PATRANGER’s DX VS Changer, All DX Dial Fighters & Trigger Machines

The Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger toy line has started off on a fairly high note. The concept of one Morpher being utilized slightly differently by both teams is an interesting one and the VS Changer pulls this off well, almost feeling like 2 separate Morphers. The toy can be purchased in 2 separate ways as well. One being the Lupinranger version and the other being the Patranger version. The VS Changer itself doesn't vary from set to set but rather the included mecha, being either the Red Dial Fighter or Trigger Machine Ichigo. In the end, regardless of which version you purchase, all of the DX Trigger Machines and Dial Fighters are available for individual purchase separately. The gun, for the most part, is white with black and orange highlight, and clear re...

Review: Kamen Rider Build DX Legend Rider Full Bottle Sets

Kamen Rider, Reviews, toku, Toys, Uncategorized
With any gimmick-heavy Kamen Rider series comes the "Legend Rider" merchandise. Basically, this means the fans can get a taste of some of the older Kamen Riders in their new driver toy. Kamen Rider Build, however, does something very clever with its Legend Rider gimmick that very few seasons can match. Here we have the Ex-aid Full Bottle set and the W Full Bottle set. Ex-Aid is broken up in to the DX Doctor Full Bottle and the DX Game Full Bottle, while W is broken up into the DX Tantei (Detective) and DX USB Memory Full Bottles. This is awesome as it both encapsulates the core of Build's gimmick, being organic and inorganic objects coming together, and the main themes of the individual series. Overall, these are great for any Kamen Rider Ex-Aid or Kamen Rider W fans. It's great to remin...

‘Kamen Rider W: Fuuto Detectives’ Knows Which Way The Wind Blows

In the summer of 2010, tokusatsu fans said goodbye to the lovable heroes of the Narumi Detective Agency, and the many wacky denizens of Fuuto City, when Kamen Rider W came to an end. Of course, several appearances occurred after that, but the loss of this pulpy action-noir world in regular doses was perhaps felt more strongly for some than with most other titles in the Kamen Rider pantheon. While the tradition of a new Kamen Rider taking up the spotlight from the old with each passing year continued to be observed, introducing us to many wondrous new facets of this crazy franchise, there was always a special place in my heart for the two-in-one detectives, Shotaro and Phillip, and their quest to rid the city of dangerous contraband known as Gaia Memories. It's with this thought in min...

Last night, I was lucky enough to be invited to the premiere of Koichi Sakamoto's new movie, 009-1: The End of the Beginning by the man himself. A remake of an old Ishinomori manga, the movie stars Mayuko Iwasa (Hanazakari no Kimitachi e), Nao Nagasawa (Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger's Hurricane Blue, Mao Ichimichi (Gokaiger's Gokai Yellow) and Minehiro Kinomoto(Kamen Rider Accel).
