As we wait to see what shape the Power Rangers television franchise takes next, it might be fun to have a look back on one of the brand's recent offerings. The title about a group of young heroes tasked with defending the world from evil in multi-colored outfits has been molded onto many grafts over the years. From the surprising success of the comics by publisher BOOM! Studios to the continued push for more fresh content on the Power Rangers Legacy Wars mobile game, fans new and old have had a lot to sink their teeth into, depending on their preferred niche. Chief among them was the 2017 film that arrived with far too little fanfare not to be swallowed up by the Disney adaptations, Marvel super-smashers, and generally flashy spectacle flicks all screaming for the attention of moviegoers...

In a statement this week for the Hasbro Strategic Decisions Conference, the toy and media company CEO Brian Goldner confirmed the potential for a new Power Rangers movie, among other endeavors relating to the superhero brand in the future. This marks the first time many will hear of official plans for another film at the superhero title's new home with Hasbro Inc. TokuNation brings the full quote from Goldner on the possibilities for this long-lasting franchise: “As I mentioned, we’ve now announced the acquisition of Power Rangers. This is really a great statement about where we believe we are in developing our brand blueprint. The fact that we can acquire Power Rangers brand and plug and play that right into our strategy where we activate it in entertainment, motion pictures in th

The Power Rangers franchise surely isn't messing around this year, is it? I can't walk three steps without tripping over some new announcement concerning the spandex-clad heroes that have filled my imagination since the early 1990s with adventure and charm. No sooner than I've let it sink in that Saban Brands has broken up with its longtime collaborator in the toy world, Bandai America, over their joint custodianship of Power Rangers, my brain is further scrambled by the news that toy company Hasbro is about to pick up the slack. Shortly after, we hear that not only will they be continuing to provide toys and merchandise for this enduring media franchise, but they'll just go ahead and take that media part too. Goodness me, what is a fan to make of all these rapid changes?! If I were t...

Since 1993, Saban has dazzled children and parents alike with the exploits of the spandex-clad heroes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and their many, many offshoots which have stretched their reign of dominance over toy aisles and screens across the entertainment landscape. But, for almost as long, we've heard murmurs of discontent about the state of the company that largely shepherded this beloved franchise to prominence. We've often wondered what it was that made this show tick behind the scenes, and why certain creative decisions may have been made in the last few years, which saw a sharp decline in audience reception, ironically a short time after the newly-christened Saban Brands retook the Power Rangers intellectual property from temporary rights-holders Disney. That was 2010. S...

Well, here's a fun bit of trivia for you. Power Rangers, the 2017 reimagining of the 90s TV phenomenon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which hit theaters early this year, is currently enjoying a higher audience score with review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes than the new, highly-anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Cause for celebration for those in some geek circles. Cause for alarm in others. And others still meet this "news" with an understandable shrug and scroll. Here's why I think this little factoid may be interesting. ComicBook.com noted that the latest entry in the beloved space fantasy is sitting pretty with an extremely encouraging 93% critics score, and an audience score that rests in the mid-to-upper 50s. Meanwhile, the Teenagers with Attitude have garnered a somewhat less mor...

2017 has been a banner year for the Power Rangers brand. With a line of successful comics from Boom! Studios, a new web-based RPG series debuting this week, the television branch still trucking after all these years, and a whole slew of merchandise waiting to be scooped up by Ranger fans young and old, the franchise would appear to be firing on all cylinders. Unless, of course, you have a glance at Saban's Power Rangers, the Lionsgate film that released in theaters earlier this year to mixed reactions. While many of us loved the Rangers' latest cinematic offering, there may be some who see this particular branch of the franchise as one that can be cut off at the base. Trademarkia lists the logo for Saban's Power Rangers as abandoned by original owners SCG Power Rangers LLC. Which woul...

Saban Brands and Lionsgate Home Entertainment sponsors today's review on the upcoming release of Power Rangers Dino Super Charge Vol. 2 Extinction. This two-disc set will release next Tuesday, March 7th, via Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The set consists of the final ten episodes of Dino Super Charge; which concludes our story that spanned two seasons. Now, while the series is adaptation of Toei’s Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, the finale for Dino Super Charge features significant changes. However, I will talk more about those changes later in the review. The first thing I need to talk about is the physical content such as packaging, and the artwork!   Volume 2 Extinction features incredible artwork, much like any other Power Rangers release from Lionsgate. I overly enjoy seeing the Ran
