Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER ZI-O DX Faiz, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O Ride Watches, Faiz Phone & Ride Watch Dizer

Kamen Rider Zi-O's gimmick continues on strong with 4 new entries. Our first one is for Kamen Rider Geiz, the Faiz Ride Watch, then the next 3 for Zi-O being Kabuto, Hibiki and Den-O Ride Watches. These all function the same as the Ride Watches of the past. Bottom line: if you like the gimmick as a whole, the sounds these toys make, or the Rider they represent, then you're going to like these toys. https://youtu.be/-HjGpuylB-c https://youtu.be/Wh7bvYNHHb0 https://youtu.be/_7ZUIQmRfLY Den-O is the only one that comes with a stipulation that the buyer may or may not be okay with. Den-O's Ride Watch is in a set with the DX Ride Watch Dizer. It's basically this year's version of the Pandora Panel from Kamen Rider Build but with less story significance. Either way, it nearly doubles the a...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER ZI-O DX Fourze Ride Watch & RKF Ghost / Ex-Aid Armor

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
The latest collectible toy for the Kamen Rider Zi-O series is the DX Fourze Ride Watch. As far as Ride Watches go, it's right in line with the rest. Multiple sound effects based on button presses, a henshin jingle and a finisher sound. Overall, if you are like me and absolutely love this gimmick line, this is another fantastic entry. https://youtu.be/QnTAfxPTkuE The RKF (Rider Kicks Figure) line isn't slowing down either with 2 new releases at once: the Ghost Armor and the Ex-Aid Armor. Ex-Aid has by far the coolest armor as well as this gimmick still standing strong as one of the better gimmick lines we've seen. Ghost has some added perks as well. Not only is it just as good as the other 2 armor sets but this one comes with some bonus accessories for both Kamen Rider Zi-O and Kamen Ri...

Toy Review: Rider Kicks Figure (RKF) KAMEN RIDER ZI-O, Geiz, Build & Build Armor

Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Zi-O is releasing a gimmick line of figures. This is no surprise, as every Rider series has one, but Zi-O is striving to be different. The Rider Kicks Figure (RKF) line feels more like discount Figuarts than a standard gimmick line, and that is definitely a good thing for the fans. Zi-O and Geiz are strong first entries into the line. Both have fantastic articulation, decent accessory counts (Zi-O has one alternate hand and they both have a weapon, though only in one of their 2 forms), and they have reasonable paint for their price. The only downside, as far as I can see, is the size. The RKF line has been sized down to something closer to America's Power Rangers Ninja Steel action figures rather than scaling with past gimmick lines or even Figuarts. I will say, however, that...

The Kamen Rider Zi-O series continues to release more and more toy collectibles with the DX Ride Watches for Kamen Rider Drive, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, and Kamen Rider Ryuki. These function exactly the same as previously seen DX Ride Watches, but with the added flair of the respective Rider. It's also worth noting that this is the first time we can see official images of Zi-O's Ryuki Armor Time form but also we do not get an alternative for Kamen Rider Geiz nor do we see a Kamen Rider Zi-O version of the Drive Armor. Anyway, if you're like me and loving the Ride Watch gimmick, then by all means snag these while you can. They're great additions to anyone's collection. https://youtu.be/kXsKqc7au0E https://youtu.be/CPZ4YXnuOIE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoS96g99MOI&feature=youtu.be ...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER ZI-O DX Geiz, Ghost, Build Ride Watches & Holder

Blog, Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
Kamen Rider Zi-O is releasing toys at an insane rate. Ride Watches are coming out literally every week and I plan on covering them all. Here we have the DX Build, Geiz, and Ghost Ride Watches and the DX Ride Watch Holder. All the Ride Watches function relatively the same way. The Kamen Rider's symbol and series year are displayed on the face. Rotating that frame reveals the face of Kamen Riders Geiz, Build, or Ghost. They all have a singular button that can be pressed to activate the sounds. The first press is the Rider's name, the second is a tagline for the Rider in Japanese, of course, and Geiz gets a third line that summons the Time Machine. This third line is specific to Zi-O's series and is identical and exclusive to Geiz and Zi-O. All three Ride Watches can be placed into ei...

Toy Review: KAMEN RIDER ZI-O DX Ziku Driver

Blog, Kamen Rider, Reviews, Toku, Toys
The Heisei Era is coming to a close and Kamen Rider is celebrating with its latest anniversary season, Kamen Rider Zi-O. Now the first batch of Zi-O merch has had some issues. A lot of sites were understocked and fans are having a tough time getting their hands on these toys, but I assure you, if you do, you are in for one hell of a treat! The DX Ziku Driver is fantastic on all accounts. The toy comes in one of two sets. This set is the most basic one, which includes simply the Driver, belt straps, and the DX Zi-O Ride Watch. The Ride Watch itself is a nice weighty handful of a gimmick. The face can rotate to reveal either Zi-O's symbol and debut year or it can display an image of his face. The single button on top will shuffle through 3 sounds unique to each Rider's Ride Watch. The Z...

As we wait to see what shape the Power Rangers television franchise takes next, it might be fun to have a look back on one of the brand's recent offerings. The title about a group of young heroes tasked with defending the world from evil in multi-colored outfits has been molded onto many grafts over the years. From the surprising success of the comics by publisher BOOM! Studios to the continued push for more fresh content on the Power Rangers Legacy Wars mobile game, fans new and old have had a lot to sink their teeth into, depending on their preferred niche. Chief among them was the 2017 film that arrived with far too little fanfare not to be swallowed up by the Disney adaptations, Marvel super-smashers, and generally flashy spectacle flicks all screaming for the attention of moviegoers...

... Okay, maybe that title was a little over-the-top, but I just couldn't help myself. Part of me has dreaded tackling this review. As a longtime fan of the Power Rangers franchise, it's not always easy to bring tough criticism to this thing I've loved for years, a huge influence on my life and how I see the world. It's even worse knowing that a number of people may have hoped to hear something quite different from me on this subject, and would be waiting to get my take on such a momentous occasion as this, the 25th Anniversary special episode. Certainly, it'll be an unpopular opinion with some, a few of which I'd count as friends. It's worse even still when one takes into account my opinion of the current season, Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel. The brutal truth is that I hesitate...

Greetings and Salutations, HJU readers! It is I, Bookish Delight, here once again to spotlight video games that, as a toku fan, you should totally have on your radar! For undoubtedly at least a few of you reading this, today’s featured series needs no introduction. However, if this holds true for you, then consider yourself part of an elite club, because—especially in Western territories—this series is about as obscure as you can get. Which is both a shame and an oddity, as it took Japan by storm for a decade and a half, and is still going strong even today, with a recently announced comeback title in the works. This series is Sakura Taisen, and even now, years past its heyday, it's kind of a big deal.   Where The Sun Rises https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVI_vkVqy4c

GO GO POWER RANGERS Vol.1 TPB from BOOM! Studios coming in July!

I got a little surprise in the mailbox today. In a brown shipping envelope was a review copy of Go Go Power Rangers vol.1! The first trade paperback from BOOM! Studios collecting the first four issues of their hit spin-off comic book. Already owning every issue of Go Go Power Rangers, I opened the book to check out what extra goodies are contained within and found myself rereading the comics. Still just as good as the first time I read the adventures of our favorite "Teens with Attitude," the team of Ryan Parrott and Dan Mora tell the story of what the days were like when Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Trini, and Billy first got their powers. Sprinkled throughout the TPB are the variant retro movie covers as well as a variant covers gallery at the end. Not a lot of extras but what I come t...
