Observe your viewing devices. As the first promotional trailer dropped last July, Bat in the Sun, with their partners at Qualcomm Snapdragon and G Fuel, promised a more complete version of legendary Street Fighter video game heroes Ryu and Chun-Li duking it out with the spandex-clad combatants of the Power Rangers television series. After months of waiting, their battle is finally at hand. And with it comes a smorgasbord of Ranger references and a load of stunts to entertain you, while also asking if you would please keep playing the Power Rangers Legacy Wars mobile game many fans have been digging so much lately. Now, the wrecked Megazord is a compelling sight for this PR fan, but I gotta ask. With all the hype surrounding Ryu's ascent to Rangerdom here, where's Chun-Li's Power Co...

Greetings and Salutations, HJU readers! It is I, Bookish Delight, here once again to spotlight video games that, as a toku fan, you should totally have on your radar! For undoubtedly at least a few of you reading this, today’s featured series needs no introduction. However, if this holds true for you, then consider yourself part of an elite club, because—especially in Western territories—this series is about as obscure as you can get. Which is both a shame and an oddity, as it took Japan by storm for a decade and a half, and is still going strong even today, with a recently announced comeback title in the works. This series is Sakura Taisen, and even now, years past its heyday, it's kind of a big deal.   Where The Sun Rises https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVI_vkVqy4c

Trevor Belmont is back to take on more creatures of the night with his monster-hunting pals in Season 2 of Castlevania. The animated series based upon the popular video game franchise had Netflix subscribers screaming for more when it premiered with a four-episode opener that barely sated their (blood)thirst for the medieval fantasy action that awaited. Now, the sophomore slaughter arrives just in time to get fans into the Halloween spirit. Here's a trailer. https://youtu.be/Kbb8zPQBmOw Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council. Superstar comic writer Warren Ellis returns for this eight-episode seaso...

(Kyoryu) Brave New World Tokusatsu hero shows, and the worldwide fandom surrounding them, have changed greatly over the past fifteen years. Beyond genre, beyond formula, beyond character archetypes, beyond even cinematography and direction, the greatest way that change has manifested is cross-pollination. Super Sentai—in its original, unedited form—currently gets official DVD releases in the West. GARO went from a pet project known only to the hardcore, to a running franchise and a mainstay event for one of the biggest MMOs in the world. Kamen Rider has radically reinvented itself several times tonally, and Ultraman is finally getting significant amounts of love by way of behemoth streaming service Crunchyroll.  Meanwhile, more and more properties are adopting the "live-action, spe

Here's a little something to jam to while waiting for your next fix when it comes to the heroes of the tokusatsu world. From Kamen Rider to Super Sentai to Power Rangers, Youtuber Studio Megaane has been delivering one nostalgic twist after another on the special-effects shows we at Henshin Justice Unlimited hold most dear. Plus quite a few other titles both of the live-action and animated variety. Studio Megaane creates music tracks in the style of old school 8-bit video games, generating a unique sound not to be duplicated, especially for those of us who fondly remember the days when this was pretty much all you had when mashing buttons and cursing the incredibly difficult games of the era. You haven't known true struggle until you've been felled by your hundredth accidental landing...

Giant bugs with laser-antennae. Bloodthirsty fiends from the depths of outer space. Titanic robots of unparalleled strength. Godzilla has been victorious in battle with dozens of seemingly unbeatable adversaries. But perhaps none as fierce as the latest threat standing before him. The menace of a broken heart. In this stop-motion comedy piece from Youtube channel MootroidXProductions, the radioactive lizard serves up his scorching heart for the object of his affection and a series of misunderstandings may lead to devastating consequences. His first romantic troubles were featured in a video a few years ago, only for the battle to rage on yet again this year, as we approach another Singles Awareness Day. Here's the original 2016 video, followed by its 2018 reboot. Because it's not j...

In case word hasn't traveled to your neck of the interwebs just yet, there's somehow a Detective Pikachu movie getting made. What's more amazing is that this flick, based on the popular video game and anime series Pokemon, in which "pocket monsters" battle it out for sport, is starring Ryan Reynolds. As Pikachu. The cartoon rodent-looking thing that generally doesn't say anything but repetitive variations on the syllables of his own name. Even after weeks of information slowly dripping out of the tap on this production, we're still asking if there's any way this could be a really expensive mix-up. Are we getting punk'd? Is getting punk'd still a thing? This question and many others need answering as we countdown to the release on this alleged movie. Ryan Reynolds has been acting his p...

The mobile game, based on the live-action television hero brand Power Rangers, sees characters both virtuous and villainous battle it out for supremacy across a grand canvas of recognizable environments upon which to wage their war of legacies. This week, the cinematic overlords who brought us the 2017 Power Rangers movie brought a bountiful gift to the game that ensures its continued success into the new year. The Hollywood Reporter brings us the story, as Lionsgate presides over a deal between March Capital Partners and Ridge Ventures. The two firms teamed up with the gamesters at nWay, providing an investment deal to the sweet tune of $11 million. The game developer continues to expand upon the strength of Legacy Wars, wh...
