This includes some series openers that may prove familiar to us here at Henshin Justice Unlimited. Check em out. First up is the gateway drug for many western fans of the madness that is the tokusatsu action show subgenre, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. https://youtu.be/NR4JlxUTCng Next, we make a Megazord-sized leap several years forward to Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Do we think musically-inclined Yellow Ranger Kira Ford would approve? https://youtu.be/DbXj5nlSu2o Completing the dino-themed trifecta is Power Rangers Dino Charge. https://youtu.be/...

How many time puns can one blogger cram into the span of a few weeks? Guess we'll find out, as the pink carpet gets rolled out for the newest hero in the ongoing Kamen Rider super-saga from Toei Company. Kamen Rider Zi-O is time-slipping his way up and down the last twenty seasons of this illustrious franchise, mixing it up with the heroes and villains of Japan's Heisei Era, and god help you if you didn't pack a fire extinguisher. As previously mentioned, Zi-O is the 20th official Heisei Rider series, and they're pulling out all the stops on this nostalgic extravaganza, sure to bring back fond memories (and other stuff maybe) from the show's lengthy history. Naturally, the star of the show is young enough that he was only alive to know some of these guys and basically nothing of the s...

Trevor Belmont is back to take on more creatures of the night with his monster-hunting pals in Season 2 of Castlevania. The animated series based upon the popular video game franchise had Netflix subscribers screaming for more when it premiered with a four-episode opener that barely sated their (blood)thirst for the medieval fantasy action that awaited. Now, the sophomore slaughter arrives just in time to get fans into the Halloween spirit. Here's a trailer. https://youtu.be/Kbb8zPQBmOw Trevor Belmont, last survivor of his house, is no longer alone, and he and his misfit comrades race to find a way to save humanity from extinction at the hands of the grief-maddened Dracula and his sinister vampire war council. Now that the first official trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters is out, fans finally know a little about what lies in store for us in the latest addition to the giant monster movie franchise, and that includes the MonsterVerse debut of beloved daikaiju Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. But one fan decided to do a little remix on the Legendary Pictures trailer, editing the piece to resemble the vibe from classic Toho Studios promos for the old school films, complete with big, animated title cards and voiceover explaining what you're about to see as those unmistakable sound effects ring out. Good times. https://youtu.be/C5VL6WNh2cM Truly, few things in life beat hearing the Japanese word "nani" (what) come from the mouth of Charles "Game of Thrones" Dance. The Michael Doughe...

20th Century Fox and Robert Rodriguez bring the classic anime and manga title to life in Alita: Battle Angel. The sci-fi tale about an android with killer moves adapts Kishiro Yukito's original Battle Angel Alita, with the use of motion capture CG enhancement for a unique aesthetic in this dystopian actioner. James Cameron (The Terminator, Avatar) was originally set to helm this project as his personal robotic baby, but when other properties called him away, Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Sin City) stepped up to the plate. From a script by Laeta Kalogridis of Shutter Island, the film stars Rosa Salazar (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, Insurgent), Christoph Waltz (Inglorious Basterds, Spectre), Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, A Nightmare on Elm Street...

In February of 1993, Gosei Sentai Dairanger kung fu kicked onto the scene, and the world of Japanese tokusatsu was a little brighter. As the 17th entry in Toei Company's ongoing Super Sentai franchise, a breath of fresh air was on the menu, and we leave it to history to judge whether it paid off. The series is remarkable to Power Rangers fans for a few reasons. While Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was first hitting the airwaves, based on Dairanger's dinosaur-themed predecessor, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, the martial arts practitioners of the Five-Star Task Force were facing a tide of monsters from the dark Gorma Tribe. Later, footage from their adventures would find itself to the west when it was integrated into MMPR's second season. Though many villains and giant mechs were utilized f...
